Sold the Xochipilli story! It's only a stipend and a copy of the magazine, but my name will be in print and that's a good start...

OK, the Xochipilli story makes three sent off and one grant applied for. One story already got rejected but there are now two out there on the marketplace. The grant is for older speculative fiction writers - you must be over 50 to apply - and is for $1,000. Wouldn't it be nice to win that?!

I think I'm mostly finished with my new Xochipilli short story. It's for Eternal Haunted Summer, a pagan magazine that wants stories about gods or goddesses and gardens.

Going to go have dinner with the SC Writer's Association group in another hour or two. Should be fun--I always enjoy seeing everyone in person instead of over a Zoom screen ( Read more... )

Once again, Publix has caused me to owe taxes to the IRS instead of getting a refund. They dispersed what was left of my stocks last year without giving me an option of putting it anywhere else. I would have stashed it into my IRA if I'd had a choice.

I haven't felt well the past few days. I'm usually not depressed in the Spring but that's what it feels like the start of. Maybe I'd better make a more determined search for the rest of those 150 mg Wellbutrin tablets I got. They were in 2 bottles and I can only find one and I took all of those already. So I drove to Columbia yesterday to attend the Palmetto Chapter's monthly meeting. They are so much more active than we are! We had a room full of people, both men and women, and lively conversations. OK we had our Meet-and-Greet Sunday. Had 4 members show up besides Rosa and myself. Sigh. At least Adrienne volunteered to step up and take treasurer position, though she has some questions for the National treasurer. I'll email them and see if we can set up a Zoom meeting.

Well we spoke with the National board and they say we can continue for awhile like this, with only 2 board members. We're going to have a live Meet-and-Greet next weekend though, where I hope we will find some more people who can step up to help.
