-- Now, class, we'll be having a quiz tomorrow, so make sure you all study extra hard for it tonight, alright?

[Looks like she's in the middle of a class. Her quip was quickly replied by her students with an eager "Yes, Keine-sensei!", a mood, during a history class, only typical close to its end ( Read more... )

Maybe teach less boring stuff? [As she just, y'know...crawls out from underneath Keine's desk. Yep, she was there whole time.]

[she's... not surprised anymore, considering how long she's known Mokou now.]

It's not boring at all. [not to you, at least, Keine. But it's definitely boring to anyone else (that doesn't have a passion for history).] You should also stop hiding under my desk, you know. [chidingly]

It's boring enough when you've already lived through it. [Streeeeeetching and now sitting on top of the desk.]

And why? I've got nothing else to do today.

History isn't history just because you've seen it happen, you know. Reliving the days you've spent before could be interesting in its own right. [a touch more gently now, knowing fully that Mokou is right on that, and how she feels about having lived a thousand years.]

[another defeated sigh] What if one of the children found you there? What would you do then?

It's not. [Flatly.]

And I'd say "hey." Half of 'em are youkai anyways and they wouldn't be scared.

[She'll let that subject rest right there, considering how sensitive it can be.]

That's not the point! You shouldn't be here when class is in session. [W-what would the kids think of their Keine-sensei if they found you there?!]

[That just gets a shrug out of her. Juuuust a shrug.]

Well it's done and done. I'm gonna stay at your house tonight, alright?

[a defeated sigh. She seems to be doing that a lot today, isn't she?] Alright, alright. Just make sure you keep to the same rule as always. [Why does she even bother trying to stop Mokou from doing the things she does... She barely ever does listen, anyway...]

[Poor Keine? Poor Keine.]

My blankets are fireproof!

The house isn't. We've gone through this before.

[Scowling.] Fine, fine.

Just don't dump a bucket of ice water on my head like last time. Shoo me out of the house or something.

[... Doesn't that mean she's going to play with fire anyway... Oh well.]

You know I wouldn't do that to you. [Her expression softens from its previous half-frown into a smile. It's been a bad day for her, but there's no reason to take it out on her best friend. Picking up the last of her scrolls and books, she turns towards the door and looks back at Mokou.] Let's head home then, shall we?

[Keine gets a light punch to the shoulder and a laugh.]

Alright. [She hops off of the desk, making sure to not scatter any of Keine's papers.]

You don't have to get anything from the village today, do you?

Nope, not today. [with a smile, this time]

[Just going to lead the way out, and towards the general direction of her place.]

[on the way to her own place, there'll be friendly, fond faces greeting her good evening, and she'll likewise return those cheerful greetings, her attachment to the villagers plain as day to see.]

[after what might seem like a hundred greetings to Mokou, they'll finally reach Keine's place -- a simple Japanese-styled home, not very different from that of the other villagers, but decorated just a little differently with more ancient motifs - demonstrating Keine's love for history, perhaps - and standing by itself, atop of a hill.]
