i didnt start believing in god when i watched/read lord of the rings and the chronicals of narnia, i dont think anyone will stop beiving in god over a movie.
Ummmmm...I agree SO MUCH. I am sick of uninformed people getting all worked up about things that they don't even know about. How many of them have read things like the Golden Compass, Harry Potter, or any other "devil" things? Can they judge it without reading it and experiencing it? I think not. Anyway, all of these crazy conservative religious groups should consider using these "threats" as learning experiences and stepping stones. It's good to have a challenge on your beliefs once in awhile. It reminds of why you believe what you believe and why it is real to you. It's a great conversation starter. Will the Golden Compass make anyone leave the church or turn away from what they already believe?? Most likely not. Sigh. Maybe they will one day figure it out.

Clearly I missed something in the movie. I just saw it in theaters with a friend (named Ashley, as well!) I had seen only one preview for it but long forgot about it. She read me the description on the phone before convincing me to drag myself along. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the description she read, but as the movie progressed, I became more and more involved. To put it simply, I thought it was fantastic!
And it seems I missed whatever the fuss is/was about this movie. Ashely wanted to see it in order to discover what was so contraversal. I guess I can be a little ignorant when it comes to this sort of thing.
