[x] Want some candy, little fangirl? - VID REC - Aristotle and Averroes by Little Strachey: Aristotle and Averroes by Little Strachey Vidder: Little Strachey Musical Artist Kareem Salama Fandom: Donald Strachey Mysteries Pairing: Donald Strachey/Timothy Callahan (played by Chad Allen and Sebastian Spence) Vidder on LJ: maledrzewo It's not easy choosing exactly the right clips to complement a song, but Little Strachey manages to do it every time. This one is a particular favorite because of its theme. Two men who couldn't be more different find each other, fall in love and build a life. Their differences are their strengths, and that's what this video is all about.

It is really lovely and completely angsty. It has Doctors Nine, Ten, and Eleven, Rose, and to a lesser degree, Donna, Amy, Martha, River and Rory. It's by lotrfan2888. And why is LJ still putting media at the start of something instead of where you try to insert it? *sighs* Guess I should be happy it would embed at all.

Using the perfect song and some of the best editing I’ve ever seen, parlai creates a chilling and unforgettable ode to everyone’s favorite serial killer. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this, and it just gets better every time.

The lyrics from this particular song are a standout: Between those who run to glory And those who cannot run Tell me which ones are the cripples And which ones touch the sun? Originally created on VHS around 1997/1998, Us is reminder that you don’t need tons of effects and digital tweaking to produce a fantastic vid. Sandy and her vidding partners showed us that a strong story and flawless editing can easily stand the test of time and every Highlander vidder who followed owes them a debt of gratitude. I am kind of speechless with this vid. It's incredibly powerful - I had chills the entire time. It's such an intense look at Nikita's relationship with Alex. I never really noticed how much aggression there is between the two of them - all mixed in with the love and care. It's definitely one of those vids that you need to watch multiple times to fully absorb all the depth and awesomeness within it. [Also? Perfect song and perfect editing. But that kinda goes without saying ;] Also? I NEED TO FINISH SEASON ONE HOLY CRAP.

[x] bringing diversity to the perv parade - Have some stuff to read: Harry Potter in 99 seconds by Paint; HP; vid This is really silly. These kids have great voices, and the song cracks me up--it's so melodramatic and over the top. I love it. Vid for LFO's Freak I think this is the actual vid for the song and not a fanmade production. This vid is well, freaking creepy and awesome. The song is so catchy and good, and the vid makes me uncomfortable in that good way. Go, watch!

[x] chaila | Linkspam of things I never talk about (and a call for recs?): Nikita - A vid rec, Seamstress by giandujakiss. I've been trying to make my way through the first season of Nikita for awhile now (and I am determined to catch up!). I kind of fell away around the halfway point because while I really like the idea and generally enjoyed the asskicking ladies of the show, I found the execution of almost all the character stuff to be too flat for me to really get into it. (I'm working on letting myself be lightly invested and not overly critical. :D) However, this vid draws the complexity and darkness out of the Nikita/Alex relationship in a way I wanted the show to do.

[x] aycheb: Wire vid rec: Wire vids are sadly few and far between and Wire vids that don’t spoil for seasons I haven’t seen yet even more so but Pursuit of happiness, a Season One D’Angelo study by cappylicious is a fabulous exception to the rule The vid like the show it takes its time setting up the game, introducing all the pieces. The payoff finally cuts in with the first chorus and a scene that on first series watch seemed no more than a little light humour about gangster vanity. D’Angelo takes his time deciding what to wear, lovingly cutting the shop tags off designer shirts and jeans, taking a boyish pleasure in unpacking new timberlands from their boxes. It’s not wrong to want things. In America it’s practically constitutional and it isn’t just material things that D’Angelo luxuriates in. What he really wants is more personal. A girl like Shardene who understands him, a big brother/uncle like Avon to joke spar with and who looks out for him, a little brother like Wallace to look out for himself. A mother, although she doesn’t appear until later in the vid, to care about him. These are not wrong things to want. Except that this is a no sum game and in this world happiness is paid for in other people’s misery. In the next verse D’Angelo sells his soul with a telephone call to the devil he knows, setting in motion [spoilers]

[x] obsessive24: driver picks the music awards, vid recs: When I Fall Asleep by buffyann, Doctor Who, general This was probably my favourite vid out of all vidukon but I didn't make a recs list then. This is to make up for it! It's absolutely gorgeous, mesmerising, delightful, and I defy you to not be wearing a huge grin after you see it. Also, as usual, for me Ten = ♥ ♥ ♥ x a million, even if the rest of the world seems to have moved on. This Night by chayiana, Merlin, constructed narrative The concept is simple but very powerful, and the story is constructed with amazing clarity and emotional pwoer. I also loved the subtle musicality throughout. Lead Me to the Truth by SpuffyProductions, BtVS, Spike POV, Spike/Buffy. What started out looking like an insular Spike/Buffy study morphs effortlessly into a much larger roadmap for Spike's character, with William, Cecily, Angel, Drusilla and his mother all getting some much-deserved face time. Hands Away by chaila and beccatoria, Fringe/T:SCC, Olivia/Sarah A masterfully constructed AU story that makes me wish this pairing really existed. Between Two Points by ana_jo, Fringe, Peter/Olivia Gorgeous colouring and mesmerising pacing.

So if you don't believe me on how good it is check out how many views it has gotten: 3,016,643 O___O yeah that is pretty impressive for really no editing technique and the vids she pulled from were really poor quality. Vid Name I Will Protect You (I Promise) Vidder: meness07S Song/Artist: Promise of a lifetime by Kutlass Genre: buckets 0' angst Why you’re reccing the vid: Just yeah.....mega uber tissue warning though I guarantee that won't do any good. Wow so much to say about this video and the song used (Kutlass-Promise Of A Lifetime) which to begin with is a religious song but it fits so well with Sam and Dean during season 2. Note not a happy ending! This all ties into ALBL part 1 and 2 and how Sam was Dean's responsibility and he well he screwed it up. I've been trying to make my way through the first season of Nikita for awhile now (and I am determined to catch up!). I kind of fell away around the halfway point because while I really like the idea and generally enjoyed the asskicking ladies of the show, I found the execution of almost all the character stuff to be too flat for me to really get into it. (I'm working on letting myself be lightly invested and not overly critical. :D) However, this vid draws the complexity and darkness out of the Nikita/Alex relationship in a way I wanted the show to do.

[x] aycheb: Wire vid rec: Wire vids are sadly few and far between and Wire vids that don’t spoil for seasons I haven’t seen yet even more so but Pursuit of happiness, a Season One D’Angelo study by cappylicious is a fabulous exception to the rule The vid like the show it takes its time setting up the game, introducing all the pieces. The payoff finally cuts in with the first chorus and a scene that on first series watch seemed no more than a little light humour about gangster vanity. D’Angelo takes his time deciding what to wear, lovingly cutting the shop tags off designer shirts and jeans, taking a boyish pleasure in unpacking new timberlands from their boxes. It’s not wrong to want things. In America it’s practically constitutional and it isn’t just material things that D’Angelo luxuriates in. What he really wants is more personal. A girl like Shardene who understands him, a big brother/uncle like Avon to joke spar with and who looks out for him, a little brother like Wallace to look out for himself. A mother, although she doesn’t appear until later in the vid, to care about him. These are not wrong things to want. Except that this is a no sum game and in this world happiness is paid for in other people’s misery. In the next verse D’Angelo sells his soul with a telephone call to the devil he knows, setting in motion [spoilers]

This is to make up for it! It's absolutely gorgeous, mesmerising, delightful, and I defy you to not be wearing a huge grin after you see it. Also, as usual, for me Ten = ♥ ♥ ♥ x a million, even if the rest of the world seems to have moved on. This Night by chayiana, Merlin, constructed narrative The concept is simple but very powerful, and the story is constructed with amazing clarity and emotional pwoer. I also loved the subtle musicality throughout. Lead Me to the Truth by SpuffyProductions, BtVS, Spike POV, Spike/Buffy. What started out looking like an insular Spike/Buffy study morphs effortlessly into a much larger roadmap for Spike's character, with William, Cecily, Angel, Drusilla and his mother all getting some much-deserved face time. Hands Away by chaila and beccatoria, Fringe/T:SCC, Olivia/Sarah A masterfully constructed AU story that makes me wish this pairing really existed. Between Two Points by ana_jo, Fringe, Peter/Olivia Gorgeous colouring and mesmerising pacing.

I don't know if this necessarily counts as a crossover because all the clips are from Sherlock, but I'm tagging it as one anyway, just to make it easier to find for people who are looking for crossovers and do consider this to be one (I'll keep the verse as Sherlock though, since that's all we really see).

[x] Sleep-speaker - LINK AWESOME THINGS MONTH: TSCC Vidlet: Mourning Aftermath by chaila43: I seriously love this vidlet, it's strange and weird and surreal and like a wonderful crazy trip into the messed up threeway relationship of Sarah/The Apocalypse/Derek. But then, everything in TSCC is a series of messed up love triangles; why should this be any different? And the editing is just gorgeous. Really, it's worth the watch for that alone. Damages Vid: Lullaby by kiki_miserychic: I don't watch Damages, but this is...creepy and really well done and so sad.
