elle_blessing for me ever writing this pairing).
Lily couldn’t take it anymore. She had sat through dinner, docile and silent while her family chattered happily around her. Even her Grandmum Weasley’s cooking hadn’t been enough to entice her to eat; she’d pushed the delicious food around on her plate to make it look as if she were eating.
All through dinner, the weight of two gazes sat heavily on her. One was Hugo’s, her quiet cousin. He could always tell when something had upset her. He was more observant than her own brothers, and oftentimes he cared more, too. No questions would come from him, though, and for that, Lily loved him.
The other gaze was Scopius’, her former lover.
Her cousin Rose’s fiancé.
The rain was starting to fall lightly when she slipped out the Burrow’s back door and headed towards the fields. The little house was too crowded, full to bursting with various ginger Weasleys and their companions, and it made Lily want to scream. She just wanted...
Scorpius.
No. She shook her head. She didn’t want him, not anymore. She just wanted to be left alone.
“Lily!”
Merlin, no. She could hear him behind her, moving through the tall grass, but she ignored him. He’d already caused enough pain, hadn’t he? Why did he have to chase after her like this? When his hand closed down on her shoulder, she whirled around and hissed, “Let me go, Scorpius!”
“You crazy bint, come back inside,” he said as the rain started to come down harder, and a clap of thunder sounded in the distance. “You’ll make yourself sick.”
“Why would you care?” she retorted, jerking her shoulder away from him.
His grey eyes shone with hurt at her words, and he dropped his hand like contact with her would burn him. “Lily, why wouldn’t I care?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because you’re marrying my cousin?!?” Lily replied heatedly. “How do you think that makes me feel, Scorpius? Knowing what we have- had- and seeing her wave around your great-grandmother’s ring for all to see? I’m not good enough to be your wife, just your whore!”
“Lily,” Scorpius replied, aghast, “what’s gotten into you?”
Lily took a deep breath and closed her eyes, letting the wind whip around them as rain plastered her hair to her head. “I’m pregnant, Scorpius,” she whispered. A long, silent moment passed before she opened her eyes, tears welling up a the look on his face. He looked stunned, flabbergasted, and scared.
“I’m pregnant,” she replied, a bit louder this time, “with your baby. And I’m keeping it.”
