I've had the same thoughts about the perception of time, when I was a child it took forever for my birthday to come, it use to seem like 1 day back then, equaled a week now. I spent a lot of time thinking about it, and trying to figure it out. One of my teachers said it had to do with our memories. That when you are a child you have few to no memories of the past, so your present time will pass quite slowly because you have nothing to complare the time to. But as time goes on you create more and more memorize and that causes our perception of time to speed up.
