wow that sounds like one hell of a trip. i remember thieves being everywhere when i went to paris a couple of years ago...pickpockets and con-artists make me so angry. on the positive, you probably got some new appreciation of those less fortunate, not having access to the food and money you planned on having.

Yeah, I'm still doing the Israel jaunt...so long as I can get a new passport and Syrian visa in time.
