Chivalry suggests I either make a habit of avenging the wrongs done against women in general, or that I have an emotional investment in her personally. If I wanted to indulge in an episode of sadism, I'd have picked someone less obnoxious.

Business. She does work for me. It's the way things are. Any of mine who would fall under attentions from the outside face retribution from within. Whether it's accomplished anything is up for debate. It is simply how things are done.
