I just learned a new word! I think that this happens infrequently, but I'm sure that several times recently I've run into a word I don't know, had to look it up, and thought "gosh, that doesn't happen much

Oooh! Those are some of my favourite sorts of maps; one of the books I wish had been able to make it to NZ was an old UK atlas of the sort that had a lot of extra information about mineral deposits and principal types of employment and even a whole section on the distribution of vowel sounds in the spoken language, and they were beautiful to look at even before I knew they were called choropleths.
