The Wales trip especially sounds amazing - I've never seen the Severn Bore either, and now it's on the list. (I was staying in Ibises before they were cool, as part of the annual French holiday where my parents drove me hundreds of miles down France to stay in gites.)

Apparently our 3* bore was a good one, but we aspire to a 5* in the future. Although I think crowds tend to be more of an issue then.

The bit of Wales between Gloucester and Cardiff seemed rife with brown signs, so I am contemplating a Proper Holiday there now.

I had no idea Ibises (Ibii?) were cool!

I've never seen the Severn Bore - I now want to see it!

I once had a seven course dinner in Cardiff Castle. It was part of a large stats conference and it was in the job I left on maternity leave (so somewhere between 1999 and 2001 as Adrian had arrived by then). I remember it being an awesome castle.

Wow! If you were in the banqueting hall, then that is properly awesome and I am most jealous :-)

Glad to hear Davefish and Keris' small human is doing well.

Also - kedgeree. I love kedgeree and almost nowhere does it. The rest of the food sounded pretty awesome as well.

You're right about Tigercats - I always file them away under missable support bands, but at some point in the last few years they've got really good.

Also I made some kedgeree recently, and it made our microwave smell of fish for weeks (I made loads so we just re-heated portions as needed), but it was worth it.
