Suddenly it's Christmas, right after Hallowe'en

Well, here we all are again, then.

Just about.

I think it's fair to say that this year [*] has not quite gone to plan. I mean, we're nowhere near 2020 levels of off-the-rails, but it's all been a bit disorganised.

The current variant of COVID - which finally got me a couple of weeks back, my first encounter with the beast - seems not to show up on tests for the first couple of days and then to turn up with a fluorescent pink line, brass bands and cheerleaders a day or two in. I had a slightly scratchy throat ahead of our band night out, so I figured I'd test and everything was fine. Next morning, as we were off to see elderly and unvaccinated (don't get me started) relatives, I figured I'd better check. Woooohoo no, not going to see them for lunch, no indeed. Anyway, glad you made it in the end, and happy Christmas ;)

I suspect - because I wasn't actually feeling well enough to go anywhere - I may have given up testing at the crucial moment. ChrisC was also cold-y, but less wussy than me - and he tested throughout and never turned up positive. I had thus thought I was safely in "just a cold" territory... but who knows.

I hope you're also having a happy Christmas, and survived your Covid bout without any serious after-effects.

Thank you, yes; no after-effects (or nothing obvious anyhow) and not even really any during-effects. I have had significantly worse colds!

I seem to have spent most of the last couple of days baking. All self-inflicted, naturally :)

Good to read! Glad you finally got there, it all sounds rather hectic.
