Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Since Minako is taken right before the power of the transformation bracelets is dissolved, she still has the ability to transform in to Sailor Venus, and in this form she has the following powers:
- Venus Love Beam: A straight shot of orange energy at the enemy that disables and can often wound badly.
- Venus Love-me chain: A chain made of the same orange energy that is slightly stronger. This chain is actually a belt at her waist that can also be used as a block or a shield against close up attacks.
- Rolling Heart Vibration: Energy in the shape of orange hearts forms at her chest and flies out in a powerful blast. A bit more powerful than the previous three attacks.
She also still has the ability to use the Sailor V disguise and with it has the Crescent Moon Cutter that appears to be strong enough to cut through even metal (though it would take a pretty spectacular throw to do actual mortal damage to some one) and is small enough to carry around in her pocket.
She’s gained some fighting skills with her time as Sailor V/Sailor Venus (though like many of the girls she has no true “style” to speak of, but she can apparently kick an enemy hard enough in to a wall to break it) and can hold her own in most fights even if she doesn’t always win.
Minako is also a very good singer, song writer, and performer and appears to have several other skills like graphic design and art.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? n/a
Weapons:
The Sailor Tambourine, which can shoot a beam of orange light, and has the ability to change in to a single sword called Ken (けん) that, while having no straight power of its own, does enhance her abilities some and gives her a physical weapon in battle.

Character Personality:
Minako has spent most of her teenage years in the lime light. She started her career as an idol at around 12-13 years of age and became an overnight sensation, and quite literally grew up with the attention of Japan on her at all times. And next to that, she spent a year and a half fighting crime and youma not only as the vigilante Sailor V, but masquerading as to the Princess of the Moon. Leading these complicated lives, having to keep one separate from the other while also dealing with an illness that was slowly killing her meant that Minako was far different from most teenagers her age.
Her first appearances in the series showed her as polite and kind, if not somewhat standoffish, unwilling to get close to anyone except her guardian Artemis. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy her career, it was more that she was living a fairly difficult double life and was unwilling to give up either at the time, even with her illness. Being a musician was important to her on a personal level, but being a Senshi was part of a greater purpose. To her, the mission was the most important thing, and even after she did begin befriending the other Senshi and fighting along side them, her focus was almost always on keeping the past life from repeating. To some extent this was also a defense mechanism - if she had these things to focus on, she couldn’t dwell on how afraid she really was of dying. To this end she was never really Minako, the teenage girl. She was always Minako Aino, the idol, or Sailor V, the crime fighter, or even Sailor Venus, decoy Princess and eventual leader of the Sailor Senshi.
Thankfully she did eventually grow up enough to realize that some of her stubbornness was unfounded. Having friends wasn’t a bad thing, being a leader didn’t mean having to focus ONLY on the past, and she could take chances beyond the life she had been living and actually let herself be Minako once in a while. Unfortunately it was her decision to try the risky surgery that ended her life prematurely, but her return to life thanks to Usagi (and the return of her memories after they were able to bring Usagi back from her own sacrifice to save them) meant that she didn’t lose these lessons, and the Minako Aino that grew up after that learned to be much more easy going, even taking time out her busy schedule every once in a while to go and see her friends. Being able to focus completely on her career and no longer having to worry about being a Senshi has helped that tremendously.
So at eighteen, Minako is still somewhat serious, but a kind, gentle girl with an open heart and a giving nature and good friend who can still act like an actual teenager. She’s a very independent person, willing to work hard towards her goals. Her time as a Senshi has made her resourceful and she often adapts to change and difficult situations better that most people her age. Being on her own is nothing she’s not used to, and she’s not likely to sulk about it or even be all that upset. It’s not that she sees it as a challenge, but that she’s gotten so used to it that she thinks dwelling on what’s happened is pointless. She still has a bit of a stubborn streak, and can be a little demanding at times, but she’s never cruel or callous about it. Sadness is rarely seen with her, and is probably one of the few things she’s still willing to hide while telling people she’s alright even if she really isn’t. She does, however, bounce back from upsetting things fairly quickly as, again, she sees no point in getting dragged down by things she can’t change.
She still loves music, and her career, and she hopes to continue bringing her music to the public for as long as she possibly can. Minako Aino is no longer a mask for the public, it is who she truly is and who she really wants to be.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: n/a
Character Plans: As usually I have nothing set in stone for Minako. Mostly I just need a girl in the game! Joking aside, she started off as a lone soldier, so I don’t think she’ll have any problems being in a place without her friends. She’ll likely take advantage of not being famous in Siren’s Port, though, and attempt to make new friends without having to worry about them only seeing her for her idol status. She might look at attending college, and there’s always a chance she can still try being a hero/vigilante as Sailor V or Sailor Venus if the chance comes up to do so.

[the video comes on to Minako’s face, though she’s peering over the phone that’s in her hand at something in the distance. It’s difficult to tell where she’s at, but it’s not the baseball diamond. Luckily its still light out.]
Canada, of all places... Manager will not be happy about this...
[a sigh leaves her and she looks down at the camera, tugging a fuzzy pageboy hat on to her head. She doesn’t really need it, in a place that probably has no idea who she is, but it’s become habit at this point in her life.]
I don’t like the look of those apartments, but from what I understand exchanging my yen over to Canadian dollars isn’t going to work, so I’m completely without funds until I find a job, and that’s the only option for a place to stay.
Mou... [she scratches her head a bit, making a face] That’s a bit disappointing, being without funds... I’ve been to Canda before but I can’t say I’ve ever been kidnapped to Canada. There’s a first for everything, ne?
[there’s a pause, followed by an awkward ‘oops I forgot something’ smile]
I suppose I should introduce myself, since I was told this is an open network of sorts. I’m Minako Aino. The greeter I spoke to was fairly helpful even though the people who were asking me questions weren’t very kind about it... but any further advice or information is appreciated. Arigato gozaimasu.
Third Person Sample
Adjusting to life in Siren’s Port wasn’t exactly easy, but Minako was making the best of it for the time being. She had yet to find a steady job, but she was unwilling to sit around and do nothing and had earned a little spending money by helping out an older woman living a few blocks up from the Tower Apartments. She had met on her second day there, struggling with several bags a groceries, and helped the woman in to her house with them. Afterwards the lady admitted that she had once hired a young man to assist her with those kinds of things, but as he had suddenly gone missing as of late. She offered Minako the same - two or three times a week to do a couple of odd jobs for a little bit of money each time, at least until her previous helper came back. If he ever did, that was.
It was weird, doing menial tasks when she had spent so much of her life in a career that most girls her age could only dream of doing. She didn’t mind it - she had to survive some how, after all - but more than once it came back to her that if she were at home, she’d be in a studio rather than doing an old woman’s grocery shopping for her. A stark contrast to her previous life indeed.
And in another sort of odd twisting of fate, she still had her transformation bracelet despite the fact that, logically, she and the other Senshi should have only had the power back for one day, one fight. She tested it once after arriving, just to make sure, and the cry of “Venus Power, Make Up!” still turned her in to Sailor Venus, just as it always did. She still had power, and given what she had been told about the monsters and the Darkness, that certainly was a blessing in disguise.
She hadn’t told anyone about it yet, though. Should she keep it secret, or would it even matter? That was a decision that was going to take more than just a week to come to.
These things were on her mind as she shouldered her purse and waved goodbye to the woman for the evening, walking down the sidewalk to the Tower Apartments just as the sun started to set. So lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even hear the footsteps nearing her from behind. All too late did she feel hands yank hard on her purse, trying to pull it off her shoulder.
She was being mugged!
Luckily for her, though, the robber seemed a little more than amateur and couldn’t quite get the purse off with one yank. He was a scrawny man, barely older than she was, but obviously down on his luck if he was desperate enough to try stealing from her before daylight was even gone. She came to a sudden halt when he tried to grab her purse, and he stumbled, yanking desperately on it.
“Gimmie yer purse, lady!” he growled gruffly at her, earning a scowl of annoyance from Minako.
“No!” she said defiantly, narrowing her eyes. She was met with the tip of a knife pointed right at her nose. She sighed, putting her hands up, letting the desperate man take it.
“I really wouldn’t do that if I were you,” she insisted, much calmer and quieter this time.
“Ohyeah?” the man snapped, yanking the bag away from her roughly. “Who’s gonna stop me?”
Minako didn’t answer, letting him run away from her without another word, though her expression was far from pleased. She didn’t want her hard earned money to get taken away from her, but she didn’t want to get stabbed, either. There was another way to deal with the situation, after all.
As soon as he was a good distance away from her she started running, following his path. With a flash of orange-gold light, she transformed in to Sailor V while running, detouring a second later in to an alley way where she used the fire escape to jump on to the roof of the connected building. It didn’t take long to find the criminal, bolting down the sidewalk with her purse still in his arms.
“I told you not to take it,” she said to herself, smiling a little. Criminals. Would they ever learn?
