Am I the only one who is positively infuriated by every Bush/Cheney sign and bumper sticker that they see? Apparently Bush is leading in the polls, how in the name of weapons of mass destruction could this happen? It truly eludes me how anyone who hasn't been holed up in some mountain compound, cut off from news and spending all their time stock ( Read more... )

im glad that you feel the way that you do. there is a scary amount of young people out there that dont give a shit about politics in the least, which is ironic and almost funny(yet scary) because it effects us all so much. and im not even american.

I agree with you, a disappointing percentage of my friends get their political news from MTV. A lot of other people I know want to just rest on their laurels, that "this is America, we're the best, no one could hate us; we can do no wrong" attitude. I do love my country however I'm not blindly nationalistic, my definition of patriotism is defending the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution even in the face of a misguided administration. I've worn my copy of Civil Disobedience out these past 4 years. This whole US as world police idea has been tried so many times, at heart we will always hold our own interests first (naturally) so it will never work, even if intentions are good. My kingdom for a useful UN ( ... )

its pretty much the same in canada. with people not knowing a thing about politics. most canadians seem to hate bush though.
