Anyway, I'm so glad I came back to read this. I really wish the things going on in Thailand were covered more(fair and balanced) by the US news. I think the world should be aware.

Well, it's not just the US news to be fair - I think it's just the nature of the media to be sensationalist.

I do believe the urge to sensationalize things is something that most all people share in common no matter your culture or time. There hasve always been drama queens and I guess many of them are attracted to positions as journalists, writers, etc. :D I know, being a drama queen, I am attracted to those fields.

Lol! XD Well, I reckon you're right. Telling a story is no fun unless you can make it sound larger-than-life, hence why normal people do it. The media sensationalize to make money.
