Goodbye Beijing, Hello Xian

So I'm now in sunny Xian. At least I assume its sunny. Its hot certainly. But I haven't seen the sun from the ground for some time now... I'm hoping in Chengdu it was just misty and cloudy though rather than it being as bad as Beijing and shanghai in terms of smoggyness. No idea whether it's the same in China, but when we were in Egypt, we were told to be a bit careful & check for unbroken cap seals if buying water on the street, since a lot of the time they were apparently empty mineral water bottles re-filled with tap water & chilled, so no guarantee it was safe to drink, however cold it was...

mmm frozen bottles of water... so glad we're off to the sun tomorrow (Tenerife) where frozen water is a good thing!

Sounds like you're having an awesome experience so far!

Am I right in thinking that 10 is the emperor's number or something? The buddhist 'perfect' number is 15 so look out for not-that - I'm sure we've told you about the stone garden in Japan with 15 rocks but you could only see 14 at a time since perfection is unattainable (unless you are a tall westerner then you can see all 15...)
