She has refused to believe in fate because her personality stands in stark contradiction to anything that impairs the possibility of her making her own choices, and yet there is the matter of her feelings for a certain individual that she seems to have no control over. The obvious question in her mind is if love equals fate, but the answer she seems to be getting is the one she doesn't want, the one that frightens her to death. Because despite what she wants to hear, there is a very big difference between the two.

Which means that there is probably nothing she can do against the fact that she is in love now, since somewhere deep down, she has always known it's got to be this way.

The others never really played a role in what was happening, all of the boyfriends she wanted him to hear about, hoping his reaction wouldn't be the one she expected, all of the rumours, stories, experiements she made sure he knew of. He's never disappointed her. Not the way the others have, when she thought she knew them, knew what they would do, would say to her, and they kept surprising her, usually in uncomfortable ways. She doesn't much like surprises and has made a point of hexing anyone who forces them upon her. But not him, because he knows. He knows her better than she knows herself, just as the same holds true vice versa.

Maybe it's because she's so narcissistic. She has a thing about her appearance, the pale skin, freckles, red hair and maybe, just maybe, all of this can be explained by her love for herself getting out of hand. But she doesn't think so. Rather, she holds the notion that it actually happened in the exact opposite fashion. She knows she's not allowed to have him, so she'll love the person that comes closest - herself. She'll love herself for the both of them.

When she's at school, she thinks the time she spends there is worst, because she runs into him all the time, and with all the people around them they can't even have a normal conversation because she won't allow it. She feels self-conscious, always looking over her shoulder for someone who might suspect. She wonders if anyone thinks anything of the way he overreacts about her lovers or if even that behaviour doesn't make a dent in their obliviousness. It should, she thinks, because then maybe someone would tell her that this is insane. But in her heart of hearts she hopes no-one will notice.

When she's at home, she thinks the time she spends there is worst, because when they are alone, there's no-one to stop her and her longing has been getting worse with the years. She knows her father would die of shock, her mother would die of humilitiation, and her brothers would die of outrage. There is no explanation for what she is about to give in to.

But when she walks in on Ron undressing, the expression on his face when he realises it's her can only mean she's been right all along.
