19- SGA, Elizabeth Weir, digital ghost
Title: Warriors Don't Upgrade
Word Count: 221
Characters: Elizabeth Weir
Summary: Superior or not, she wouldn't hurt people she loved.
Help! The cry goes unnoticed, ignored, by the Asurans as it reverberates throughout. Oberoth allows the message into the conscious, to echo, so that all know his power by bringing the leader of Atlantis to her knees. She may have obtained the upper hand once, but that would never happen again. Fool him once, shame on him; fool him twice, assimilated are you.
In the corner of his mind, she sits cowering. After invading his mind, of seeing inside, she knows what is in store for such a strong woman. He allows a little bit more to flash into her mind, to know of what would be ahead.
A smile stretches across his face as the screams echo.
The next message is covered in steel, and not the material the humans use for building, going out to everyone because he's not expecting it: you won’t win because I won’t let you. Gone is the pain, the fear. She was digitally upgraded, made better by superior technology, but she wouldn’t break. Not yet, at least. This was only day one. Forever stretched in front of them; so much time to use one of the upstart’s own against them.
She would destroy them all.
A tainted laugh escapes while those around turn away quickly as great plans start to form.

Im looking at you through the glass...
Don't know how much time has passed
And all i know is that it feels like forever
When no one ever tells you that forever
Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
Whole. Stinking. Song. That's all there is. It reminds me a bit of of how she must have felt with all control of her body overtaken by the nanites, and the Asurans after that. It must have been so hard for her to kind of live inside her head when her family left, when she sacrificed everything to save them.
*Fanmix title in reference to what lies underneath Wonderland's surface and the powerplays, which was somewhat inspired by the Through Glass's title as it reminded me of Wonderland.
02. Life Ain't Always Beautiful - Gary Allan
Life aint always beautiful
Sometimes it's just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart
Life aint always beautiful
You think you're on your way
And it's just a dead end road at the end of the day
Elizabeth would have been knocked out and knocked down, but she should have survived. It's what she did. And she'd figure out a way to make it work for those she cared about and protected. She gave up her humanity for them, after all.
03. When I'm Gone - 3 Doors Down
There's another world inside of me
That you may never see
There're secrets in this life
That I can't hide
Somewhere in this darkness
There's a light that I can't find
Maybe it's too far away...
Or maybe I'm just blind...
The whole song seemed to scream Elizabeth after the nanites took over, both times. There had to be so much fear for that, of only being a ghost of what she should have been.
04. Dear Agony - Breaking Benjamin
And I will find the enemy within
'Cause I can feel it crawl beneath my skin
Dear agony, just let go of me
Suffer slowly, is this the way it's got to be, dear agony?
Suddenly the lights go out
Let forever drag me down
I will fight for one last breath
I will fight until the end
It must have been difficult to know that who she was was gone and everything she is belongs to a base code now that other people made choices she wouldn't have.

11- SGA, Teyla, tougher than nails
Title: Play To Win
Word Count: 294
Characters: Teyla
Summary: A quick mind could save them all.
Left. Pivot. Swing low. Up high. Duck. Right.
She feinted every move and connected her hits and bowed when the exercise was over. It wasn’t too hard to be respectful of people who worked hard at being better, faster, surviving. The improvement was nice, and it was paying off.
As a shy Marine stepped onto the mat, she realized how fragile some of the women look and yet…weren’t. This woman would require less strength, more endurance. She set up the lesson, going an extra 20 minutes to give the other woman directions for the next time.
Once alone, she moved quickly and with more directed focus. This wasn’t training; this was enjoyment, pleasure. Jump down, the bantos sticks clattered to the ground as she kicked and pivoted while turning a somersault. Faster and faster, she worked out the worries and pain that had been mentally appearing after Michael had changed the war.
Left. Right. Grab a staff. Leverage at an angle and jump. Back and forth. Repeat.
Ronon might enjoy his knives and stunner, Colonel Sheppard might enjoy his gun, and Dr. McKay might enjoy his gizmos and intelligence, but she enjoyed hand-to-hand combat the most. It kept the mind active and aware while allowing for glimpses out of a combative situation.
Breathing heavy, she took a break before being again. Colonel Sheppard had called her “tough as nails” and after an explanation, she felt that was an apt phrase. Of course nails rusted so it was better to stay prepared.
12- SGA, Teyla & Elizabeth Weir, red wine
Title: Stained Red
Word Count: 409
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, Teyla
Summary: It doesn't feel right tonight.
Sitting on the couch, curled into a ball, unconsciously writing in Ancient, Elizabeth's mind wass far away. Carson'd been by, John and Rodney have called three times in as many days, but the one person she can't reach the one flooding her memory.
After the debacle over Teyla alerting the Wraith, Elizabeth made it a point to learn about the Athosians. Especially the strong leader who apologized to no one when it came to those under her care. In a male dominated, 'no girls allowed' environment on Earth, it had been intoxicating to witness the strength. Elizabeth wasn't a shy violet, too quiet and worried to say anything out of order. After all, she had negotiated with System Lords. The difference was Pegasus didn't question Teyla's leadership; it simply was. On the other hand, Elizabeth worried all the time about what the natives thought of her abilities.
The need to be validated ended up precipitating the once a month wine nights. The first time had been awkward, lots of wine spilled due to nerves. Hers, of course. Teyla had been thoughtful, not really caring for the too dry Chianti or the taste at all. At the next meeting, they both enjoyed the slightly sweet taste of another vintage. Third time was the charm and they both cooked with it after kicking those on KP duty out for several hours. Elizabeth learned a very valuable lesson that night: not all leaders should cook the food if they expect others to eat it.
For the next month, Pegasus's version of white wine had dominated. It turned out that PXR-6335 had the best choice, especially when making a not-pork tenderloin recipe that had been passed down several of Weir generations. Wine brought by the expedition, even smuggled and hidden, was gone in a matter of three months so everyone depended on barter and trade. If Dr. Jackson had been here, he'd have said Tau'ri was living the life of an Abydonian. Actually Dr. Manus, the head of archeology announced that it would simpler than using money because it would be more difficult to kidnap a team member quietly than pickpocket a money purse.
Now the apartment was silent with no one to share stories or experiments with. It had been nice to have a female friend after being in charge for so long and having to hold back a bit due to fuzzy leadership lines. Spills on the carpet, lots of laughs, opening up about the past. It paid off. So much. And now there was no one to share anything with.
She missed her friend.
