YAY OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the downside, my district re-elected Michele Bachmann, who has got to be one of the greatest idiots the US House of Representatives has ever seen.  I can't believe she won, even in my freakishly conservative district!  I mean, how could we pass up the opportunity to elect someone with a name like Elwyn Tinklenberg?  Oh ( Read more... )

Me too. California has clearly gone stupid. I blame it on Arnold Schwarzenegger (no offense to Austria).

I always thought it was funny when I was in Austria, because the first question people asked me was "do you like Bush?" and the second question was "do you like Arnold?" Austrians seem quite adamant about disliking him.

I kind of want some other Austrian body builder with US citizenship to come out and say "I voted for Obama." Just to prove him wrong. But I don't know if there are any others... Clearly, the rest of them were smart enough to stay in Austria.

I know, yay Obama!!! That sucks about Proposition 8. My roommate and I were discussing this last night after the election, and how incredibly dumb it is to vote for it. I mean, i thought California was headed in the right direction!!

yeah, i'm not really sure what to think about prop 8. i figured that it was too definitively conservative to pass, but apparently not.

also, i'm pretty sure the mn senate race is going to get recounted. last i checked, they were like literally 520 votes apart or something ridiculous. that's crazy.

Random comment! Saw you in the denglish-community, and OMG you live in the same district (or very close) in which I lived until last Friday!! (Being an exchange student is fun.) Did you ever hear about Carver/Chaska? :D
(So random, sorry. And I'm also sad that Bachman won. I mean, seriously, did you see her commercial? AHAHAH. "I know I don't always choose the right words, but my heart is at the right place." Oh c'mon, that's so stupid.)

Hey, random comments are cool. Where were you living and going to school in MN? Agreed about being an exchange student. I lived in Austria for a year in high school, and it was awesome.

I'm sorry Bachmann won too. I thought for sure she would lose after all the stupid things she's done. Unfortunately I'm going to school in Ohio right now, so I missed all the commercials, but my parents kept telling me about them, and Bachmann made national news for being an idiot. Even Sarah Palin said she was being ridiculous!

Waitwaitwait what? PALIN said someone was ridiculous?! THAT MUST BE A JOKE. I would be so very pissed if Palin would've said I were ridiculous, that's such an insult coming from her mouth.
I went to the Chaska Senior High School. "Home of the Hawks", as they were calling it. And I lived in Carver. Some friends of my family who lived a few miles away were able to vote for/against Bachmann, so we lived pretty near her district. Near enough to get the stupid commercials anyway... So much (all these 3 gay marriages that were forbidden -.-, Bachmann, etc) that tarnished Obama's win.
Did you like Austrian high school?

Well, I don't think she actually said ridiculous, but she said something along the lines of thinking that what Bachmann said was out of line and exaggerated.

Aside from the Obama win, I think this election was a huge disappointment (well, I guess Elizabeth Dole lost, so that's okay...). There was a great editorial cartoon in USA Today that showed Obama and his supporters partying while a gay rights activist was sitting on the street looking depressed, and then Obama looks over his shoulder and says "And good luck with that whole equality thing!" Pretty damn accurate, in my opinion. Obama won, so now everyone is content to just sit around and wait for things to get better. But it's not going to happen. Our government is "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

I really liked Austrian high school. It was a fantastic year, and I wish I could go back and do it again now that I'm a more confident German speaker, because I spent the first few months just being really confused. How was your time in Chaska?
