I'm actually astarte59; I'm just logged in under my icon journal, fading_coal. I wanted to say that I liked the quote on your icon journal's profile page from "The Last Duchess." Creepy, yet also an admission of the limits of art. Much as a painted dead duchess behind a curtain might be preferable to the real life one, who was just too damn alive for his standards, he'll never get to see that faint half-flush that dies along her neck again. Pity, that. Even the Duke can't have everything.
Just reminded me a bit of "The mind in creation is as a fading coal, which some invisible influence, like an inconstant wind, awakens to transitory brightness," which is the motto of my icon journal, although I wonder if I should also include "When composition begins, inspiration is already on the decline," followed by the U2 version of the same idea: "Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief / All kill their inspiration and sing about the grief." It seems to embody Shelley's art of self-pity. But it seemed important to name my icon journal after an
