On the day before TP scenes
Me: Okay! Big TP scene tonight. Sure, something bad always seems to happen to me before big TP scenes, but I'm sure it's a coincidence. Hey that's funny, my monitor doesn't seem to be drawing power.
Monitor: Hi! I'm a brick!
Me: Well, fuck. Still, it's not so bad, at least it happened in the morning and not five minutes before the scene, I've got plenty of time to go grab a replacement.
New Monitor: Hi, you were looking at me last week but didn't buy me because you already had a monitor! I'm randomly 30% off!
Me: Ha! Suck it, fate. I'll just go home and plug you in.
Roommate: Hey, your mom--
Me: OH MY GOD MY MOM IS DEAD
Roommate: Are you retarded?
Me: Sorry, random reflex. What's up?
Roommate: Your mom called. She wants to go see a movie this afternoon.
Me: O...kay, that doesn't seem so bad. What did she want to go see?
Roommate: She said something about Battleship.
