book recommendations

by the way, the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman totally rocks and I'm hooked.  I bought the 2nd and 3rd books in the States and I'm so stoked to read them.   But first, I have to finish Eats, Shoots and Leaves: A No-nonsense Guide to Punctuation by Lynne Truss.  It is fantastic, funny, and a recommendation for everyone, both grammar- ( Read more... )

I loved His Dark Materials! and I cried at the end... thats kind of rare for me with fiction but his characters are so well drawn.

his dark materials hooked me right away too :) i just started reading the time traveler's wife, which is promising so far. i also just read the female thing: dirt, sex, envy, vulnerability by laura kipnis. i'm not completely sold on her style of humor, but it was a fast, insightful read.

bahhumbug on the second and third books of the dark materials! they suck! i hate them! don't read them! preserve the sanctity and deliciousness of the golden compass!!
