Leoben - not just a spot in Austria - but actually a pun?

Maybe this has already been bandied about, but I had another idea...

Hey, I love that icon!!

I did a Google English search, and then an LJ search to see if it popped up - "leben" and "leoben". I'm so behind on the theories everyone has, I wasn't sure if this one had come up before...

Just a detail: Leoben is actually a town in Austria, not Germany (but then again, Hitler was also an Austrian...)

The theory about the pun is quite interesting... Good to see someone new around here who "thinks deep"! *grin* Always interesting to hear new theories! And BSG is so rich in allusions to philosophies and religions, this one would fit rather well, though it disturbs me, too... I hadn't thought about the Cylons as Nazis until now.

There's another theory that's come up in response to some of the details about the BSG prequel Caprica, which has a character called Ben in it - a young religious fanatic. Some people have suggested that Leoben might have been created partly from the consciousness of Ben.

That's a brilliant idea. Thank you

Much better, too, than my theory that he's been named to capitalize on the Leo DiCaprio/Ben Affleck fan base (grin).
