The *next* president on BSG

I wouldn't like anything bad happening to Lee Adama at the end of BSG, but if by chance he decided to leave politics (you know, if he married a certain pilot whose peccadillos might make it a lil' harder to be reelected ... or if he wanted the chance to raise a real family ( Read more... )

I think Gaeta's changed this season (actually he changed at the end of last season). The way he, Seelix and Pike et al acted on the Demetrius made me lose a ton of respect for him/them as characters. Season 3 Gaeta would've been good for a run at President. He would've done a lot better than Baltar.

Yes, I see what you're both saying. I think he has deep-seated issues with Starbuck that led to the mutiny. It was much more than not believing her, it was subconscious payback for him almost getting spaced, and her unwillingness to let him plead his case. His level of trust in his fellow soldiers has to be almost non-existent after those events, but maybe he identifies more with civilians ( ... )

Oh, I absolutely think that was his reasoning. And rightly so (from his POV). I think Ron Moore evens mentions it in a podcast that Gaeta acts this way because he's all bitter. And we know how RDM loves conflict between his characters.

OK, except for him trying to kill Baltar, only, I can see how someone might feel that was the moral thing to do, too -- especially someone who doesn't anticipate a martyrdom rising up around him.Well, Felix resulted to lying at the trial in hopes of getting Baltar convicted and he attempted murder. So that's why I think that pre-trial Gaeta might've been okay for leadership but now something's changed in him and he's no longer a person you can trust ( ... )

I think Gaeta's lost a lot of his idealism. It makes me wonder what they're going to do with his character for the rest of the show.

Um, I came back here to see if anyone else commented about Gaeta and I saw this response from you. Maybe you don't realise yet, but if you respond to your own journal like this then the only person who will know about it is you. Unless you actually reply to individual comments, a person will have no clue you are talking to them.

The only exception to this rule is if someone 'tracks' a thread. Which means they will receive email notification of all the comments.

Hope that helps!

I think you have some good points. I don't think gaeta has summarily "lost his idealism" and is no longer a decent guy, but he's definetely grown up a bit ( ... )

I agree that Gaeta is not particularly responsible for the mutiny... all of them have their part to play. However, I think he does have more clout and is less likely to be a "believer". The others have all flown with Starbuck, except Sam - her husband. They're used to taking orders from her, so there's an element of the "hating the boss" that I think would naturally come into play - but also a natural reticence to commit mutiny ( ... )
