*Wow*, you do it, too: this poetic style of writing with such a big focus on all the senses that leaves the reader quite overwhelmed at first! Your description of Snape's quarters and condition "shocked" me deeply.
I especially love the letter he writes (and burns afterward). Writing such letters, not meaning to be send, helps me immensely to sort my mind, too. Here it helps the reader to understand Snape's feelings so much better.
The "scientific aspect" is something that I can't really enjoy, as my having studied chemistry gets in the way ;-), but I always enjoy it so much, if an author takes me into the greenhouses with Pomona *gg*.
And the last lines are completely inspired: what a great ending!

Dearest, thank you for your words of kindness and generosity. I am relieved that you liked the greenhouse scene with Pomona--it was my first try at writing her as a substantial character and I was worried about getting her "wrong". And the letter--it was the heart of the story, the impetus that got it all going, so it means a lot to me that you liked it, and that the idea of writing a letter to no-one made sense. In short, ♥

Just so you know, I restored your complete end notes when I put up the Reveal headers. :)

Ah, thank you, dear Iuls, and for putting up with my insane last minute requests! I have added even more information to the footnotes here, but it is good to know that the original is more or less "complete". ♥
