Oh, I love the fire imagery, it's so vivid, and so entirely suits this pairing. Your Snape is so perfect -- actually, everyone is. You really captured the essence of the characters incredibly well.

Many thanks! ♥ I'm delighted that all the characters seemed to come across realistically; somehow I couldn't imagine this pairing without the accompanying tension between Order members. And that Snape seemed IC is wonderful to hear, as he gave me the most trouble of all while writing.

Oh wow. This is incredible.

I love the way you've criss-crossed between what's actually going on and Arthur's musings. It works so well within the fic, and gives it this disorienting quality. Not to mention your rich description. The map of Snape's face was an especially well written segment. Although I was quite taken in by the descriptions of smoking as well.

I also found the Peter Pan parallels interesting.

All in all an incredible piece of work. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Wow, what a lovely comment! Thank you for taking the time to share what worked best for you -- there are few pleasures greater than being privileged to see a story through the reader's eyes. I'm thrilled that the text itself seemed disorienting, and that my rather voluble descriptions nonetheless managed to convey some of Snape and a certain fire. I'm also glad you found the Peter Pan parallels interesting, as I was worried it would seem too banal. ♥

Snape is the kind of boy who never quite managed to grow up - a deformed Peter Ban, Arthur thinks, recalling the Muggle story. Yes, that's what he is, the kind of boy who still throws tantrums at his elders and refuses to wash his hair and yet possesses powers so remarkable while remaining so suspicious of adult influence that it's well nigh impossible to convince him of the virtues of growing up.

This is such an interesting view on Snape, and one that is totally valid. I love that, paired with the ongoing themes of fire and cartography. Really great work!

Thank you so much! I'm delighted that the Peter Pan metaphor seemed appropriate -- I'd had my doubts that it would come across well.

(And apologies for the late response. I've been ill.)
