Summary: After a long time relationship they didn't expect that the success of one of them could also meant the end of the relation.

The next morning, as soon as he opened his eyes, he noticed Aiba wasn't there anymore, and the guilt came to him remembering what had happened last night, and how he hadn't even have the chance to properly apologize to his boyfriend. That, together with the headache he had as result of last night alcohol, made this morning a pretty bad one.
He turned around to look the clock; he had an hour to run to the office. He had told his boss he would meet him first hour that day, so quickly headed to the shower and got dressed. He started to walk to the kitchen, he needed a coffee immediately, but what he found there gave him another ping of guilt, there on the table was his breakfast waiting for him with a note next to it.
Morning Sho-chan, here's your breakfast and a pair of aspirins, guess you'll need them. Have a nice day.
Masaki
He shook his head, he was disappointed with himself for letting down Aiba the night before, and yet he even had prepared breakfast for him. Sometimes, Sho thought he didn't deserve the other, and that it was not fair for Aiba to be there. He looked again the clock and suddenly, every thought about his boyfriend flew out of his mind. He quickly took the aspirins and the coffee and left the apartment.
As soon as he arrived to the office, he saw that his coworkers that had been celebrating with him last night were not there or with a zombie face. He quickly greeted Ohno on his way to his office and as soon as he got rid of the coat he walked towards Nagase-san private.
He knocked before opening the door slowly.
"Ah, good morning Sakurai, come in!"
Sho walked inside and took a sit in front of Nagase as he was motioning him to.
"You did a great job yesterday, Takano-san is one of our best clients and he was quite satisfied with the result"
"Thank you"
"Sakurai-san, what about taking more responsibilities inside the firm? It will also involve a rise in your check, of course"
Sho left the office promising him he'd think about it, but both of them knew it was a pure formality, that he would never reject such an offer.
As soon as he got out, Ohno caught him up asking him about how things had gone with Nagase-san
"So?" the older man asked impatient
"So...what?" Sho replied chuckling knowing exactly what the other meant
"Don't be idiot, tell me what did he say" said Ohno while taking a sit
"So, he offered me a rise and more responsibilities, if you know what I mean" Sho winked at Ohno making both of them laugh
"That's great!...Oh did Aiba totally killed you last night?"
Sho moved uncomfortably in his chair while his face changed into a serious expression
"I would have prefer that but no, how about you?"
"Nah, once I told her why I was late, she didn't mind much. You know Misa-chan really appreciates you"
Sho smiled at the man in front of him
"Well know I need to compensate Masaki somehow"
"You'll find something, don't freak out" said Ohno standing up and heading out of the office.
Sho stayed there looking at the ceiling, this was such a great opportunity for him, he had been working for it. But on the other hand, he'd have much less time for Aiba... and what was he going to do to apologize to Aiba?

AIBA’S POV
Aiba couldn't almost sleep anything during the night; he could hear Sho sleeping peacefully beside him.
As the sun started to rise, he got up from bed and went to take a shower; his face looked horrible because of a restless night and the tears... As he took his breakfast he couldn't stop thinking about Sho, probably he'd wake up with a horrible hangover judging by his smell last night, so he decided to make him breakfast before leaving. Maybe he neglected him the last night, he still loved him more than anybody, and he wanted him to be able to do his best at work.
Once he finished preparing Sho's breakfast, he wrote a note and left some aspirins on the table, he went back to the room to grab his coat and could see his boyfriend still sleeping
"See you, Sho-chan" he whispered heading out.
The ride to work was calm, Aiba felt still startled about what had happened last night, but he kept repeating himself that he shouldn't do a big deal, and the better was let it go, or at least avoid to think of that while he was at work or he’d end up spacing out again.
When he got out of the train, he saw Jun waiting for him already, both of them smiled while waving at each other and headed to the hotel chatting about trivial things.
The morning was agitated, a group of tourists had arrived and they needed to set all the details with the restaurant and the rooms, so everything would be in order during their stay, a good thing since it made Aiba focus on something else for a while.
Once everything was ready, Aiba went to take a sit inside the office behind the reception, when suddenly Jun got in
"Aiba-chan, what's wrong?"
"Ah, it's nothing" he replied smiling shyly at the younger boy
"Oh, I see. I didn't know puffy panda eyes were on trend now!" Jun replied in an ironic tone
Aiba took a breath but didn't reply.
"Problems with your boyfriend?"
Aiba nodded, before replying.
"I know he has a demanding job and so, but I miss him. Last night he came home very late and didn't even bother to call me"
Jun sat down next to him and patted his back
"Have you talked about this with him?"
"No, I meant our schedules barely match and I don't intend to bother him with my complains"
"Stop that Aiba-chan, you have all right to tell him how you feel. I'm sure he'll understand. Plus, yeah, work is important and all but he should make time for you"
The reception bell rand and Jun stood up
"I'll go, and seriously, talk to him"
He just looked the young man disappearing behind the door, and sighted. He didn't want to turn himself in the demanding boyfriend, but things with Sho didn't seem right as they were right now. It was like if they were strangers, even living in the same apartment and sleeping on the same bed, lately it was weird for them to exchange even a pair of words.
Maybe Jun was right and he should try to talk to Sho about that, and tell him how he was feeling about that. But on the other side he didn't want the other to think he wasn't supporting him.
As his shift ended and he waved his goodbye to Jun, his mind was still a mess, wondering what was the best thing to do.
It took him more time than normally to get home; somehow he managed to lose the usual train and had to pick the next one. Well, not that it mattered; probably he'll be arriving to an empty home today again. And somehow, he just wanted to take a bath and go to sleep, he wasn't even hungry.
That's why he was surprised when he opened the door of their apartment to find the lights of the living room on and the TV on.
"Tadaima?"
"Ah! Okaeri, Masaki!"
Sho got up from the sofa and went to give his boyfriend a peck, but the sudden act made Aiba to back off a little, leaving a confused Sho in front of him. He didn't intend to do that, he had been wanting it for a long time. He opened his mouth to apologize when Sho started to talk.
"I'm sorry about last night, I lost track of time"
"No it's ok. So how was the case? Did you win?"
"Y-yeah, that's why we went to celebrate it, sorry I couldn't come back on time"
"Well, I'm glad to hear that, hope you had fun"
Aiba tried to offer him his best smile, he was happy he could relax for a while. He deserved it after that much work.
Suddenly, Sho moved from in front of him and came back with a bag.
"For you"
"Eh? what is it? You didn't have to buy me anything... wait, is it today someday I should remember?"
Aiba tried to think if it was any special day, but nothing came to his mind, he remembered every anniversary of anything between them.
"No, it's my way to say that I'm sorry and that I love you"
Aiba smiled at that, he took a look at the bag and found a cute dark dog plushie.
"Sho-chan! You didn't have to!"
He hugged the other tightly and he could feel the other returning the hug. He wish all the time could be like that, with Sho caring about him. He wished he could be Sho's priority, but he knew he'd never be. And he knew too, that someday he may lose him for a better fiting person for Sho. Suddenly, all those thought overwhelmed him.
"Sho-chan, I'm tired, I'll go to take a bath"
"Oh... sure, take your time"
"Thanks again for the plushy, is so cute"
He went to the bathroom quickly before his tears could fall, for some reason, he couldn't stop it. He should be with his boyfriend, cuddling in the sofa, and enjoying the time he'd have with him.
He wouldn't say anything, he wouldn't complain, it was not his place to do so, yet he couldn't avoid but hope and wait for things get better, for Sho and for them, that was all he wanted and all he needed.
He stayed in the shower until he could calm down, he expected Sho not to notice he had been crying, he changed into his pajamas and went back to the living room to find Sho already asleep in the couch with the tv still on.
"Sho-chan, let's go to bed" he whispered caressing Sho's face
"Uhmm…yeah" Sho mumbled getting up and heading to the bedroom, followed by Aiba who was wondering if things will get better.
