Summary: After a long time relationship they didn't expect that the success of one of them could also meant the end of the relation.

As Aiba raised his head again and took a look to the two men in front of him, he realized who one of them was.
"Oh, Ninomiya-san"
He hadn't noticed it before, it was the same guy his boss had introduced them that same morning, he would have never imagined he'd find it there. Suddenly all his insecurities came back, the ones telling him he was just a receptionist and this wasn't his place.
"You... know each other?"
Aiba looked at Sho, but before he could answer Nino was faster to talk. Aiba was feeling strangely uncomfortable at the conversation.
"Of course, he works in the hotel I stay in, right? I never imagined your boyfriend would be somebody like him Sakurai-kun"
Aiba wanted to dig a hole and bury himself inside of it. He shouldn't be there, he knew that could happened, but no matter how down anybody could look at him, he didn't want people to look down on Sho because of him.
He tried to smile politely, why Sho wasn't telling anything? The four of them stayed in silent for a moment until the guy Sho introduced as Ohno started to talk.
"Aiba-san, I really wanted to meet you. You know? This guy here always talks about you"
Eh? Sho did it?
"Ah, so it is? It's a pleasure to meet you too. Thank you for always taking care of Sho"
"No need, we have our backs here, right Sho?" The man replied with a smile looking at Sho
"Of course" Sho said and Aiba could notice his uneasiness.
Aiba didn't know what to do, if it was for him he would have ran away from there in that instant, but he knew he couldn't do that, not to Sho, not tonight. He took a deep breath, when he noticed Ninomiya's gaze on him, examinating him, and quickly excused himself for the bathroom.
He needed a minute to put himself together, but it was like suddenly all his insecurities were confirmed by Ninomiya's words, he was right though, it was unexpected that someone like Sho could be dating someone like him.
He washed his face, trying to hide the few tears that escaped his eyes. When he got out of the bathroom, he could see Sho still in the company of the two guys, laughing and having a great conversation. He walked as slow as he could, and when noticed Sho gaze on him, all Aiba could do was gave him a shy smile while he got closer.
"Oh, Aiba-san you're back" Nino said to him "You must feel proud of being Sakurai-kun's boyfriend huh? Besides handsome" Nino said turning to look at Sho "smart and successful, the whole package" he added with a smirk on his face
Aiba couldn't avoid feeling a pinch of jealousy by the way Ninomiya had said that and especially the way he had looked at his boyfriend, but he knew he was right. Besides proud, he was very lucky to have someone like Sho on his side.
"Yes, I am" was all he said with a tiny voice.
The rest of the night went quite like that, with Aiba standing there trying to make himself smaller while the other three chatted about many things. He didn't know how to participate in the conversation, what if he said something that would embarrass Sho? It was enough having a boyfriend like him, he didn't need to embarrass the other more.
At the end, he was exhausted, he just wanted to go back home and sleep. He has felt totally out of place during the whole time, and even more listening to Ninomiya's comments.
As they were leaving, he heard Ninomiya calling Sho again.
"Wait me here, I'll be right back"
He looked at them, they looked so good together, and he wondered if he could ever give the same impression staying besides Sho. No, sure he wouldn't.
They went back home in a taxi, and Aiba couldn't bring himself to tell anything to Sho. They stayed in silence during the whole ride.
As they got home, Sho hugged him from his back and whispered directly to his ear, making Aiba shiver.
"Thank you for coming tonight. You looked great"
He had missed that contact, but was it ok? After all he had embarrassed Sho with who he was...
"I wouldn't missed it for anything" he replied trying to make himself smile for the man "We should sleep don't you think?" he added getting inside the apartment and heading to the bedroom
He didn't know exactly why was suddenly pulling himself off, he wanted Sho and he didn't want him to think stuff, but the truth was he didn't know anymore if they belonged together and that was starting to create cracks on their relation. He didn't want that but he didn't know what to do, somehow he kept hoping in some point, once Sho got a grip of his new position, they could have time to work things out. Well, that if Sho still find him suited to be with him.
He got in the bed as soon as he was on his pajamas, he listened the door opening and felt sho lying beside him, hugging him from behind
"Baby, are you ok?" Sho asked with a tender voice
"Yeah, just tired" he turned around and gave a kiss in the cheek to the older man, "Good night Sho-chan and congratulations for the promotion, you really deserve it"
Sho kissed his shoulder, and kept hugging him
"Thank you" he whispered, and they didn't talk more.
SHO’S POV:
Sho was slightly confused, how Ninomiya knew his boyfriend, he couldn't avoid it and asked
"You...know each other?"
Aiba turned to look at him, and before he could say anything was Ninomiya who spoke
"Of course, he works in the hotel I stay in, right? I never imagined your boyfriend would be somebody like him Sakurai-kun"
He should have imagined, Aiba's work was in one of the most luxurious hotels in Tokyo and it wasn't really a surprise someone like Ninomiya stayed there.
Somehow the younger's man comment made him feel uncomfortable, he didn't know what exactly he meant with what he had just said, and he hoped Aiba didn't feel bad for it. He didn't know what to say, but luckily for him Ohno came to his rescue, and he thanked him with a smile.
"Aiba-san, I really wanted to meet you. You know? This guy here always talks about you"
Did he really talk that much about him? Well, actually he talked quite a lot about him.
"Ah, so it is? It's a pleasure to meet you too. Thank you for always taking care of Sho"
Sho looked at Aiba, he knew the other was making his best effort being there, it was not a situation the other was used to.
"No need, we have our backs here, right Sho?" Ohno was looking at him now, waiting for an answer.
"Of course" Sho noticed his own uneasiness while replying to Ohno. He couldn't stop being worried about how Aiba would handle the whole situation.
Not so long after, Aiba excused himself to go to the restroom. He was about to accompany him, but Ninomiya started to talk to him so he let him go. At least it'd be a break for the other.
"So, Sakurai-kun, how did a guy like you have a boyfriend like that one?" Ninomiya asked bluntly
"What you meant?" he asked trying to figure out exactly what the other wanted to know
"Well..." the younger man answered getting close to him "You are not in the same field, so I got curious, I hope you don't mind" he continue with a smile on his lips, that made Sho slightly blush.
"It's ok, we met in high school and since we've been together"
"How sweet, isn't it Ohno-san?" the younger boy said amused to Ohno who only nodded at him "So he's been your only boyfriend? Sorry if I'm asking too personal questions"
Sho felt out of his comfort zone for a second
"Ye-yeah, it's ok."
"I see" was all Nino replied smiling, before they changed the topic
Sho didn't notice that they got that close until he felt Nino's finger brushing his hand, when he turned around Ninomiya looked at him and smiled whispering a soft "sorry" in apology for the gesture. When he was about to focus his attention on Satoshi, he saw Aiba coming in their direction, he wondered if his boyfriend was ok. Aiba smiled at him, making him feel a bit more calmed.
For the rest of the evening the 3 guys kept talking about different subjects, he was so into the conversation that he hadn't notice his boyfriend seemed lost and not able to follow the conversation.
When they finally decided to call it a night and he was about to leave with Aiba, Ninomiya called him before they reached the door.
"Wait me here. I'll be right back"
He went back in the younger's man direction, once he got close he smiled at him
"Too bad you have to leave so soon, but here's my card" Nino said placing it on his hand and brushing his fingers against his softly.
"Now you can call me whenever you want"
"Yeah" Sho replied smiling at him "I will"
"I'll be waiting" Ninomiya said winking at him and smiling before turning around and going back to the party.
He didn't feel like driving, so they took a taxi since it was late and the metro was closed already. All the way home both of them stayed silent, his boyfriend seemed absent minded, which made Sho wonder if he was ok, but he didn't dare to ask.
Once they got home, while his boyfriend opened the door, he hugged him in an impulse
"Thank you for coming today. You looked great" he really meant that, he was happy his Masaki could see the place he worked and met his friends, but he wondered what was inside his boyfriend's mind.
"I wouldn't have missed it for anything" he replied leaving Sho a little resentful for the lack of enthusiasm in his words, especially when he added "We should sleep don't you think?".
He took his time before following Aiba to the bedroom, when he took the coat off, he remembered Nino's card and pulled it out, he smiled. Somehow the younger man had left him quite a big impression, he even seemed to be flirting with him, but couldn't be, right?
He shook those thoughts away, and finally decided to go to bed. When he entered in the room, Masaki was already under the covers. He knew he wasn't the best boyfriend and that he had been neglecting Aiba, but he have been doing it that much that now it seemed there was an invisible wall between them?
He took his clothes to put the pajama bottoms on, and went to the bed, hugging Aiba
"Baby, are you ok?"
"Yeah, just tired" Masaki replied again emotionless before kissing him on the cheek "Good night Sho-chan, and congratulations for the promotion you really deserve it"
Sho only kissed Masaki's shoulder and replied him a simple "Thank you" while kept hugging him.
