Summary: Third part of invinsible. They finally got over their fears but... what'll happen next? (Yeah! I suck at writing summaries!)
“Wha-“ Sho chocked with his own breath and started coughing before he could former a sentence. Aiba got up and rushed in his direction, but stopped in front of him, afraid of touching him.
“Ho-how did you know?” Sho was still in shock, of all the ways he had imagined that scene, and it definitely wasn’t like that.
“That it was you?” Sho just nodded, not able to give him a better answer. “I knew it was you since the beginning, you know? I don’t go around accepting random dates” Aiba laughed softly, in a try to relax the other before he’d suffer from a heart attack.
“But how? You didn’t know me… I thought---“ Aiba cut him.
“I know more about you than you think. You can’t look at somebody for such a long time without people noticing?” Aiba said it kindly, but Sho blushed furiously.
“I-I’m really sorry about that” Sho started to bow but Aiba prevented him from doing so.
“No, it’s… I liked it. Getting attention from somebody like you”
Sho didn’t know how to react to that. Aiba knew who he was? Since when? He had too many questions that didn’t know where to start. And then there was that, he was there with a purpose but still doubting if he’d be able to tell Aiba.
Aiba kept looking at Sho, who was looking pretty much like a fish opening and closing his mouth constantly and looking like if he was about to run away. So he decided to save him problems and trying to make him more relaxed.
“So, why don’t we go for a walk?” Aiba looked to Sho with hopeful eyes; he was so nervous that now that Sho was getting so much attention from the rest he wouldn’t want to talk to him.
Sho looked at Aiba that was offering him one of those bright smiles that could cloud his mind.
“Ah.. ye-yeah. That sounds fine”
They started walking with no direction, none of them knowing pretty well what to say, so Aiba started.
“You know, is a good guy that Matsumoto. You’ve a good friend”
“You’ve talked to him? When?” Well, that may explain why Jun had his phone number and all. But when had they talked?
“Well, he came to call me an idiot a few days ago” Aiba laughed at that
“What?” Sho was shocked to hear that, and didn’t get why Aiba was finding it so funny.
“Well, he’s right tho. I’ve been a real idiot all this time”
“What do you mean? I don’t think you are…” Sho lowered his voice till a mere murmur in the last part, and Aiba just couldn’t help but chuckle at how cute he looked right now defending him.
“I’ve known you always stared at me for a long time and… I’ve been at the same time looking back at you. And guess I was pretty obvious since your friend noticed it in just some days” Aiba scratched the back of his head while saying that. “Uhmmm Sakurai-san?”
Sho was still trying to make sense of what Aiba had just said. It just seemed impossible to him. He had seen Aiba looking at him some times, that’s true, but he thought it was just because he may be annoyed of noticing him staring at him. He stared back at Aiba who was looking at him with a questioning look.
“Yes?”
“What… what did you want to tell me?” Aiba was so anxious, he was debating himself between feeling hopeful or getting ready for the opposite.
“I-well.. just… this…” Sho was getting so nervous, he didn’t know how to say it, but he had to. Maybe that was his last chance for that.
“Sakurai-san, it’s ok. Just breathe and say whatever you want to tell me, ok?” He offered him his best smile. He didn’t want to pressure the other guy to talk, but he wanted to hear it. He wanted to be sure.
Sho took a deep breath and look directly at Aiba before starting talking.
“I like you… since the first time I saw you walking around the campus. I was always afraid of talking you and that you would hate me and then I’d have to live without seeing your smile around. I… I like you”
Sho said all in a row, without stopping to breathe. He felt how his cheeks were blushing and looked at the floor afraid of looking at the other one.
At the same time, Aiba’s smile couldn’t be any wider. He waited until Sho looked back to him before replying. He looked into Sho’s eyes while replying.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Sho’s eyes opened wide at that, he hadn’t expected that answer. No rejection? He was going to ask what did he mean when Aiba continued “You know what? I like you too”
“Wha-you do?” Aiba laughed at Sho’s expression, he couldn’t get tired of looking at that guy.
“Yeah. I was afraid of talking to you so you’d run away or you’d get mad or something”
“Why?” Was that even possible? In Sho’s head, he was the one way under Aiba, why would somebody like Aiba be afraid of that?
“Because you’re smart. You’re the top student of your class, you’re responsible and you’re good looking… I mean, I guess I was just insecure. But I’m glad you told me”
In that moment all what Jun told him about how everybody was scared. He smiled thinking how much he owed Jun for this, for making this to happen and for giving him courage for it.
He smiled at Aiba before replying, a big part of his previous anxiety forgotten.
“Actually, it’s you the one a world above me. You’re popular, have friends, you’re bright-“
“I’m bright?”
“Ye-yes” Sho blushed in front of Aiba’s gazed.
“It’s the first time I’ve been told that” Aiba laughed before continuing. “Matsumoto was right, we’re idiots!”
After that they kept walking and talking enjoying each other’s company. They didn’t have a place to go, they just wandered around the park, just trying to get over their previous insecurities.
Half an hour later, they were starting to get tired of just walking and Aiba’s stomach started to complain about the lack of food. He had been so nervous that day that he hadn’t really had an appropriate food. So they opted for going to eat something, and without thinking Aiba grabbed Sho’s hand to drag him towards the nearest restaurant.
“Let’s go!”
Sho froze as he saw Aiba grabbing his hand; he blushed and stared at their entwined hands. Aiba noticed it and let go Sho’s hand.
“I’m sorry, I just-didn’t think” Aiba started to regret that, and was going to apologize once again when Sho grabbed his hand again.
“It’s ok, let’s go”
The dinner went smoothly, with they talking about everything that came to their minds and realizing how many things they had in common. If you’d ask Sho, this was for sure the best dinner of his life.
After dinner Aiba insisted to walk Sho to his dorm and Sho had no option but to accept in front of Aiba’s smile. Plus it was a good chance to hold hands with the taller man again. It was not bad for a first date, somehow they both managed to relax in the end.
It was Aiba the first to talk as they were reaching the dorm.
“Thank you for tonight, I really enjoyed it. Though I was afraid you wouldn’t come, you were kinda late”
“Yeah, sorry about that. It took me a while to gather enough courage for that and Jun had to threat me”
Aiba faked a pout at that and teased the other.
“So, you didn’t want to come?”
“No! No! It was not that, I was… just too scared. I didn’t know you knew!”
Aiba laughed at his panicked reaction with his breathy laugh.
“I know, I was just teasing you”
“Oh… sorry!” Sho laughed shyly and scratched the back of his head.”So, it’s here”
“I know” Aiba smiled.
And I thought I was the stalker here…
“So, it is ok for me to call you?” Sho blushed after asking it, he had never thought he would have enough courage to ask him something like that.
“Yeah, please”
They stayed like that in silence, none of them knowing what to do now that it was time to part ways.
“Then, I’ll be going now. Have a nice night Sho-chan”
Something tingled inside Sho at hearing the other calling him Sho-chan, it made him feel closer.
“Sure, you too”
He stood there while Aiba turned back to leave when he turned again to face Sho and kissed him fastly. It wasn’t what any of them expected for a first kiss, the thing ended up being a little clumsy.
Aiba looked at Sho’s face, who was now blushing seriously before cupping his face with his hands and kissing him again, this time softer and way better than the first time. He parted afar of him with a smile
“Now, this one was better. Good night Sho-chan”
Sho was still froze and it took him a little to react to his words.
“Oh.. yeah good night, Aiba-chan”
Aiba started to walk away, leaving Sho still in his place touching his lips.
