Trudi Canavan has got me hooked! Although I know her next book is due out soon (plus I've ordered the prequel to the Trilogy at the local library) I have been making a soundtrack playlist to follow the books (I may even try writing screenplay, though I know nothing about this skill), all just to keep the story alive in my mind. I'm such a saddo ( Read more... )

I love her books! Read them a few years ago now so can't remember the details, but definitely one of the better authors I've come across. A real "just one more chapter" author responsible for far too late nights ;-)

Have you tried Robin Hobb? She's my very favourite of all!

I loved Robin's Farseer and Tawny Man series so much I have cried for several days over the demise of Nighteyes. Being aware of the deep emotional effects I steered clear for a while to recover (hopefully dodging the Pit this way).

I may be tempted back though - the Liveship Traders looked interesting and her stories are so easy to believe and so detailed.

Have you read all her books and which were your faves?

I loved the Liveship Traders ones - I felt they were just as good as her other ones. Her characters are amazing!

I have read all her books. The Soldier Son trilogy was okay, but let down by the main character being a bit rubbish (as in he behaved rubbish, rather than he was badly written) but I suspect he had to be for the sake of the story. Her best work is definitely the Farseer/Liveship stuff. I've just finished her most recent book (Dragon Haven) which was a sequel to Dragon Keeper - a new series set in the same world as the Liveship stuff. As usual I couldn't put it down!
