Dude. Water Gandalf is awesome. Mal clearly has a good classical education.

I feel like I need to go back and really read Narnia. I haven't touched those books since like middle school.

I'm a little worried that reading them as an adult will take away from that childhood discovery, before I noticed things like narrative and subtext and just lived in the world.

Yeah.... Sometimes these things just don't hold up. And it's kind of sad to go back and read or watch something that really affected you when you were young and discover that it doesn't hold that magic for the adult-you. Studentbane has read them a couple of times as an adult, though, and he seems to believe they hold up. And I take him as a good reference that the story can bear the weight of the allegory.
