Makeup

I'm seriously thinking about going to a department store and blowing some money on some makeup. I would ask for stuff for exactly my needs, style, coloring, etc, make them apply it and teach me how. In order to do this, I need to pick a brand. I hardly know people who wear makeup. Anyone have a brand recommendation?

I wear very little make-up, but when I was being Professional Woman I tended to use Clinique because it gave me the least problems with allergies. Shiseido was also good, as I recall.

I like Clinique, but I haven't checked to see if they are tested on animals. If you go for department store cosmetics, try to find out when they are doing Gift with Purchase, which nets you more then twice as much as you pay for (though not always in the right colors). I like the small sizes that come in those gift packs, because I wear makeup so infrequently that I have to throw it out before I've used much of it. Avon is not tested on animals, and if you found a consultant she could probably help you with your choices and the use thereof.

Chanel, but I don't know if there's a logical reason. Is there a Nordstrom store near you? Their cosmetic helper/trainers seem better-qualified and friendlier than the ones at other stores.
