Thank you! I ordered this today (and a few other things that looked good). After pay day, I think I may take a crack at the list C. gave me. :) Happy Veriobird!

Pricey but faboo books:

- Moda a Firenze 1540-1580. Has become the new QEWU'd, IMHO.

- A Tresury of Great Italian Textiles, Santangelo. I think getting a good sense of of period design patterns is important.

-- At Home in Renaissance Italy, ed. Marta Ajmar-Wolleim and Flora Dennis. The catalog for the 2006 V&A exhibit. Wonderful essays! I love this book. :-)

-- Sofonisba Anguissonl: The First Great Woman Artist of the Renaissance, by Ilya Dandra Perlingieri. Hard to find now. :-(

Other stuff:

- The Dover Vecelloio's Renasissnace Costume Book. Etchings. I read over at Relm of Venus that there will be a new translation of this coming out.

-- The Milanese Tailor's book. This is online somewhere, although I believe

For even earlier than Viking stuff, I really enjoyed reading the following book. I checked it out when I was doing my master's and while the geology papers I was reading for my degree put me to sleep, this one was so fascinating, I read it cover to cover! Some hint of what is in the book (which isn't easy to obtain) is available on this web page:

http://www.miun.se/misc/hum/regark/HOGOM.html

The book:

The Hogom Find and Other Migration Period Textiles and Costumes in Scandinavia: Hogom Part II
Nockert, Margareta
ISBN 10: 9171746161
ISBN 13: 9789171746160
Publisher: University of Umea, Department of Archaeology
Publication Date: 1991
