I have NO idea how helpful this will be, but...

Join a photo-hosting website, photobucket.com is a good one. You'll get your own little username and password, and then you'll have to upload files or photographs stored on your computer into your photobucket account. When you've uploaded them, photobucket will give you a URL (...an URL?) to use.

The easiest way to post them on LJ is to click on the 'rich text mode' option for updating your journal, and then click on the 'Add an image' icon, enter the photobucket URL for the image you want to display and then viola! You can also put your images behind Lj-cuts if you're in rich text mode which preserves the bandwidth of your friends page. Or something. Just highlight the section you'd like to place behind a cut (like the photo) and then enter in a cut tag.. Like 'MS paint wars' or something. Sorry if this is all geeky-preachy, but I hope it helps. I am a crappy teacher.
