i read the news every day from bbc news, salon.com and perez. i know perez isn't every little detail, but i love having some fun celebrity shit thrown in there sometimes.
do you read the big stories? or are there specific things that you follow? I'm trying to read more news and be more in touch with stuff going on in general...and i have the feeling its going to be philly.com and bbc. I read jezebel, so I get a lot of gossip that way. And I boycott perez :)
there isn't really any one specific type of news i follow -- but i do especially like to read the bbc stories about what's going on in america because it gives an international viewpoint on what the hell is going on in our country rather than our tried and true biased media sources. bbc has a great feature that lets you see the most viewed and most emailed stories of the day, which sort of lets you know what people are tuning into at that time. i ♥ it!
I find I follow BBC and The New York Times a lot of the times .. I have daily news podcasts i subscribe to, though I'm not always good about listening to them. I more just focus on the headlines and science sections, with random other interesting pieces of information as they pop up, like the dog frozen to the sidewalk (SAD)
I listen to RadioNZ National (New Zealand version of NPR) pretty much every day. I also read the local paper whenever I can steal my neighbor's copy. And I podcast "Wait, wait... don't tell me." Those three together keep my in the loop. If I find something interesting, I usually Google it to find out more.

I used to love the BBC widget, until it made my hard drive crash.
CNN is succinct and easy, but not always the best reporting.
and there's always the Onion...
