The Sarah Connor Chronicles, whatever episode number we are on right now.

So. As I said in my last post, I spent all of last weekend tearing through all the Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles episodes since last December, and ever since then, I've been trying to get my thoughts organized enough to post them. It's been harder than I expected, because every little thing I say about this show makes me want to go off on ( Read more... )

I love this. I love it! I don't get overly thinky about this show except when you talk to me about it, but I love your thoughts about it.

::hugs:: Thank you! I was getting a bit embarrassed about the way my thoughts all just sort of... spilled out into the post like that. *sheepish grin*

(Of course, I am totally blaming you for this post, in the first place. ;) )

Oh, no, not my fault! I only shared my thought because you did first!

No, I mean I blame you for the fact that I posted at all. (Or, maybe I blame the fact that you can't get on YIM anymore, and I can't just babble on to you about all these things for hours on end. ::is sad::)

But hey, on the plus side, maybe this'll finally get me to start posting more regularly again! ;)

I'm really looking forward to your thoughts! I saw your post about John and Jesse, so I was wondering what you'd think about this. :)

Thank you! :D

I find it extremely difficult to talk about TSCC, because every single thing I can actually put into words feels oversimplified, somehow, because whatever point of view I choose makes me feel like I am ignoring all the other points of view, which are all important, and which all add something to the situation as a whole.

Like in this case, yes, John shares a responsibility for Riley's death, but that also feels like it's giving him too much power in this situation, because in some sense, Riley's death was ultimately about Riley and Jesse, and a little bit about Cameron, and maybe also about the baby Jesse lost, and it wasn't really about John at all [ETA:(Except that he should have helped her, obviously)], like a weird messed-up version of the Bechdel test. And do I really have a right to ignore that aspect of the situation, just because I want to talk about John, and the lessons that John learned?

And it feels like it's the same with every single thing that happens in this show! I can't talk about things from every ( ... )

User mystickeeper referenced to your post from TV Meta Posts! You know you want them! saying: [...] that it should be easy enough to find those moments from those earlier episodes. writes about it in this post here! Over the course of the series, John has increasingly been isolated from humanity, mostly interacting only with Cameron ... [...]

(It's like Catherine Weaver is using James Ellison to see if John Henry can learn to "reprogram" humans to work with him, the way John Connor is learning to reprogram the machines! Plus, the explosive in Cameron's brain vs the files hidden inside Weaver's computer that give her plausible deniability if she ever needs to kill Ellison (please, please don't let her kill Ellison!), and it's all so cool, OMG!),

I hadn't thought of that!! I think you are on to something!! Thank you!!

Isn't it awesome?! *flails* I admit, that one is probably my favorite parallel, out of all the ones I list out at the end, so thank you for picking up on it!

I keep wanting to write posts upon posts about just that part of it, but they all degenerate into incoherent babbling and hand gestures, like I said in my post. *g*

Also, OMG, your icon! *stares* I find it strangely relevant to this post and this show in general. I will never look at kittens the same way again! ;)

Yeah I call it my Terminator Kitty LOL
(I only have 15 icons so I have to choose them carefully :)

I know what you mean about thoughts becoming incoherent babble... I had to edit my last posting when I realised I couldn't even follow what the heck I was saying XD... the show does that to me lol
