I actually have something of a love/hate relationship with modern art - sometimes I love the way it surprises me and throws me off guard, but other times I feel the artists go too far, just to fill their need to be trendy. This is definitely one case where I was happy with it, though. *g*
On my trip, we spent a day in London, and we happened upon this really interesting kind-of-modern-art exhibit outside one of their modern art museums, where a group of people were acting out silent scenes from fairy tales. And then every person who stops by gets a "passport" with some tasks they could fulfill by interacting with this world they've set up.
We didn't have time to stop by and really explore it, but it looked sort of awesome. :)
I definitely understand that. I visited the Whitney in NY and I loved the scrolling lights pieces because it appealed to my actor sensibilities. I hated the giant household objects though. Occationally modern art is awesome. Sometimes though it just doesn't move me at all.
Maybe the picture isn't clear enough, then. They are not just embracing - they are definitely kissing. (Although I admit that it's a bit hard to tell, since they don't seem to have any mouths to kiss with. *g*)
It is a touching sculpture, though, isn't it. I actually like it a lot, all joking aside. And I think it looks good where it is. I hope they don't take it away, now that they've caught me taking pictures of it.
OK, I just uploaded a few pictures, and I swear, it's actually *more* porny than I remembered, not less.
(And also, an elderly resident from the building caught me taking pictures and giggling to myself, so now I'm totally embarrassed, and I'm choosing to blame everybody on this entry who asked me for proof. (Hee!) I hope they don't take the sculpture away now that they know that at least one of our residents is kind of a 12-year-old girl at heart! I'm actually sort of fond of this sculpture now! *g*)
Thanks! Like I said, I really do like the way the remodeling turned out. :)
In retrospect, it's really interesting to think back and remember the way I really didn't like any of the individual choices that they made for things like the carpet and wallpaper, right down to the handles and locks for the doors, and yet, now that it's finished, I see how it's all come together so well to make a whole picture that I do like a lot. It's actually probably quite lucky that I had nothing whatsoever to do with this redesign, because I can't imagine being able to design something like this.
Wow. Now I'm trying to figure out just what my words could be a metaphor *for*. *snerk*
And pictorial evidence now uploaded. I swear, I've seen fannish photo-manips labeled NSFW that were much less steamy than that. I'm totally filled with 12-year-old-girl *glee* at the thought. :D
And there definitely must be some getting together very, very soon! Have you seen Up yet? 'Cause I really want to go see it, and would appreciate some company. :)

(I don't think they were *really* anatomically correct, by the way. Sometimes modern art does let one down, doesn't it. ;) )
