Torchwood:COE reaction

OK, so I've finally given in to peer pressure gave up trying to resist all of those extreme reactions I could see outside the cuts and watched the new Torchwood mini-series all in one sitting this weekend. And having watched all of it, I've got to say -- I find myself in the interesting position of disagreeing with pretty much *every* reaction to

Heh. Well, actually, I think that if you go in there knowing what to expect (darkness for the sake of darkness, as I said) and be willing to just roll your eyes a lot and handwave the obvious plotholes and lack of logic, then I think you might enjoy it. There were interesting scenes in it, and some very good acting, and some fairly awesome side characters that I wish got more airtime.

I just got annoyed with the self-righteous cynicism of the main premise, I guess. And I never even realized that there was such a thing as self-righteous cynicism, so I guess you learn something new every day. *g*

Either way, though, you do need to be in the mood for something dark, so if you are not, then you should give it a pass. Hey, there are times when one gets a certain yen for darkfic, right?(Although honestly, I think that if I were in the mood for dark, I'd probably go to TSCC, instead.)

PS: I am thinking of having a viewing party sometime soon, to celebrate the fact that I have a new super-fancy TV, yay! But I'm really not sure what to watch, since I'm not really in any fandom right now.

Hmmm... maybe Burn Notice, or Leverage, or Psych, or something... I'll have to think about it. :)
