For people who lack the natural talent or the inclination to study spells, it's the easiest way to put their lunaglyphs to use. Without my glyph, a sword this size would be too slow and heavy to use effectively.
[Not that being something of a giant doesn't help or anything. He tugs the sword off his back and faces to the side to avoid Katara, leveling it at his shoulders for a moment, and thrusts the blade forward twice in quick succession, jagged lines of lightning sparking over the blade. A moment after that, and it's right back where it started.]

That was really amazing! I've never seen anything like that before! Can you shoot the lightning off of the sword too, or does it just stay there?

I can, though it's not as easy as keeping it close. I'm not very good at projectile attacks.
