[past: horus and set] [original gods]

It was strange, sometimes. Set was not exactly highly thought of by the other gods of Egypt. The Osiris incident and Isis' screeches about it had seen to that. And the whole problem of her son, the little bird-brat. His brother-nephew. If there were any luck for him, Horus would never come out of hiding ( Read more... )

His studies were done, and the future king of Egypt had little interest in staring at walls and wait. That was how he ended up watching the war from the hilltop lined with tents, bright eyes glowing as he smiled a little. This was more interesting than reciting duties, and practicing his sword.

Set swore when someone ran into him even as at the same time he was spinning to grab his assailant by the throat, a growl rumbling in his chest. He wasn't in the mood. They knew better than to just come barging in and, "what." he says, in a clipped, just barely controlled tone, "do. you. want?"

It is probably luckily for Horus that Set hasn't recognized him yet.

It was hard to answer when his throat was in a vise grip. It was harder to answer when he realized just who it was that was holding him by the throat. His hands came up to Set's wrist, grasping at the bloody skin as he tried to force out some sort of answer.

Set didn't recognize the boy as one from the camp. And he certainly wasn't quite dressed the part. And Set was just tired enough from the day's exertions not to have even yet quite put two and two together. The last time he'd seen Horus, after all, he'd been a small boy bleeding out on the floor of his room.

Set loosened his grasp a fraction, just enough to allow for speech. "Well?"
