To illustrate how in-tune I am with religion: I walked past five people on the street today with ash on their foreheads before it dawned on me that it was Ash Wednesday.

More to the point: my honest-to-God first thought upon seeing the first one was "Holy shit-- Is that Gorbachev?!"

Yep, I'm going to Hell.

I saw kids in school with the ash, and remember that it was ash wednesday. But when I saw Mayor Menino on TV I laughed and said, he must have hit his head.
