Exactly. I've always thought is was funny how all the fake goths and such really were conforming the whole time, and for some reason they didn't realize it.
Feral children wouldn't conform to society, but they would conform to their surroundings. Does that still count?
You're right about the whole body thing. So many people go out of their way to pierce themselevs in the weirdest places and get all sorts of wild tattoos, and for what purpose? To try to prove something? To prove that they're different and they don't care? It's not what they look like, it's how they act and think. Anybody can go pierce their tongue. But people's thoughts and minds are what is truly unique. And by saying that they do it because they don't care, they're actually saying they DO care. (Only if they say "because", however.)
Yeah. And I agree with you about the conforming feral children to their surroundings, but that's bound to happen, I mean if they were like put into the middle of a city or something and told to interact with other people - they would, in that case, be true non conformists. Until they started getting affected by what everyone else was doing.
I agree completely, these non-conformists can get outta control with their obsessions of being different. But sometimes people have trouble expressing their unique thoughts, and therefore, express it on their bodies. Sometimes people are in an enviornment where their thoughts won't be met with agreement or acceptance; so they shut up and dye their hair. It's sort of like a coping mechanism for some people. And also, there's just those who like the way it looks. Everyone is conforming to something, whether it be conformism or non-conformism.
I never said you don't understand something. I said you assume that I think that everyone who dyes their hair or do something "out of the ordinary" is trying to be a non conformist. I was just correcting you, and there's no need for sarcasm.
