I was in the Air Force for 8 years and loved it. If he's going in enlisted, the nice thing about the Air Force is that it's the officer's that get shot at. ;)
Oh Boy - Wayne Dyer. I've read him a lot, worse yet, my husband has read him a lot. I'm a little skeptical of his earlier work, it all seemed a bit antisocial to me. Then again, I rarely make a habit of walking around with "victim" on my forehead, so perhaps those earlier techniques would have been overkill for my frame of mind. That quote - though - is very true. Sometimes knowing and understanding the power of intention, though, is like carrying around a loaded gun, it was perfectly safe in your hands when you picked it up, but carrying a loaded gun around CHANGES the carrier.
Don't mind me, premenstrual. ;)
Anyway - UK authors - Terry Pratchett (who would probably agree with me on the changed carrier theory). That series by Mary Stewart (as I recall) was historic/fantasy, right? (Read it many, many years ago.) If you like fantasy, definitely Terry Pratchett.
I do think Dyer's writing has changed somewhat, or maybe it's me thats changed. He has some interesting ideas and a lot of them make sense. I can see what your getting at with the loaded gun theory. I think your right, intention changes us so we do have to be careful where we're directing it. You know the old saying, "be careful what you wish for."
Thanks for the tip on Terry Pratchett, I'll check him/her out. You remembered right, the Mary Stewart trilogy is about Arthurian legend, told by Merlin.
Your comments about spring in VT brought it to life for me! Your writer's voice is ripe with sensory description.
Intention IS everything. I think the point of intention is it keeps your goal present and viable in your mind and then two things happen: 1.) You work towards it both directly and indirectly and 2.) Your mind keys in on opportunities that will lead to that goal.
I'm so excited for you to achieve your goal and hope things work out for your guys! emteee
I'd never heard of Dr. Wayne Dyer before, but I checked out his website and he looks interesting. I am inspired by motivational concepts. A long time ago I tapped into Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich and found it to be quite inspiring.
Glad you're enjoying the Mary Stewart trilogy. Not sure what else to suggest... someone suggested Terry Pratchett and I would agree with that. Perhaps Barbara Erskine - she writes historicals with a paranormal bent. Haven't read all of hers but I did like Lady of Hay and Hiding from the Light (which snapesoul is reading at the moment).
