So glad it's Friday! It has been an extremely busy week at work. The weather is beautiful. I think we might do a campfire in the backyard tonight. The past week has felt like a typical New England autumn with warm sunny days and cool starry nights. Even some of the trees have started (around the edges) to show some orange and red. My favorite time ( Read more... )

Autumn in New England sounds like my idea of heaven. And it's very definitely in the air here in the UK. My favourite time of the year too.

It's easy to post pictures. You will need to get a free account with something like Photobucket Image Hosting. (It's easy) Upload your pic to that and then use that to post it to your LJ. Shout if you need more help.

Caffyolay, what is autumn like in England? I visited London and Glastonbury this last spring and loved the weather. The flowers were about three weeks ahead of mine in Vermont.

I just heard some Canadian geese fly over the house! It is way way too early for that! When that happens then might be trying to warn us that winter is coming early. I'm not looking forward to winter. I don't mind snow but I hate when we sometimes have several weeks in a row with 20 - 30 below zero.

Thanks for the info on photobucket. Snapesoul had mentioned that and I did open an account. I'm still having a bit of trouble getting the pictures the right size to post. My picture of the Glastonbury Tor is way smaller than I wanted but I haven't figured out how to fix it yet. I'm quite technically challenged! LOL

Laurie, what graphics programme are you using? Look for something to do with image size, then view in actual pixels. It will give you an idea how big it will be. LJ likes their icons to be maximum 100 pixels square, so if you want to make an icon, size it down (or up) to that.

Hi Elaine, I don't believe I have a graphics program other than what is in photobucket. That is where I made the picture smaller by going to 50% small, ect, until live journal would accept it. But I didn't see an option where I could actually look at the actual size beforehand. Nick (my youngest) son showed me how to cut and paste the picture into Word but LJ and that didn't work and Chris (my oldest) did it in paint and that didn't work.

I agree with Caffy, "New England in the Fall" is famous! I've noticed some of the trees turning here but we still have plenty of flowers, etc. (I actually managed cornflowers in my weed patch). I want to try to get to Westonbirt Arboretum this year which is a couple of hours away up the M5. It's supposed to be wonderful in the Autumn. And I like this season too, except for the dark nights! Our autumn days are probably not as warm as yours but occasionally there will be days that are really "balmy".

Hello Vermont....I found you in my Caffy readings. I am also new to LJ and just did it to keep up with Caffy.
I am not that dedicated to it ...yet, but do get a kick out of reading the doings of the Brit crowd.
I am a true fan of the UK and have vacationed there almost yearly for the last 20 years.
Your comment about castles is really what caught my eye. I LOVE them and have been in many many all over
the UK. Kenilworth is my favorite, in ruin but just grabs me every time I visit.
If you would like to add me as a friend...please do and I would like to do the same.
Caffy is on her way to visit soon and I hope she can give me much needed help with my LJ.

Autumn is my favorite season as well and here in Western PA we get some of the most beautiful colours in
our trees....which I hope to have turning for C when she arrives!
Still humid here but the nights are starting to cool down a wee bit.
Did you have the bonfire??

Hi gleebee. I would love to be added to your friends list and I'll add you to mine.
How awesome that you've been going to the UK for the last 20 years! I'm hoping that I can get back there in a couple of years. I love everything british and am really really drawn to that part of the world. I met Elaine (Snapesoul) when I was over there, we got together a couple of times and I'm hoping to go back to visit her (and hoping she comes to the states to visit me).
I have always wanted to travel to Pennsylvania. I drove through once when I was bringing by father back from Floriday one spring, but didn't spend much time there. I bet it is beautiful in the fall!
I didn't get to have the bonfire last night but am hoping we can do it tonight!

Aha, I had you figured out from the first reading....a kindred soul. I am just a bit too crazed about the British Isles and try as I might go to other countries to visit, the UK always wins out. My husband's Mum was born in Scotland, so there is a lot of reason to
travel in that direction. And my heritage is almost solid Scots-Irish with many ancestors ending up in Merry Olde. So I guess my love is quite honest and my maiden name is SCOTT, lol.
Caffy and I have been friends for a long long time and we have been visiting her and her hubby for almost 18 years.
This will be their second visit to us.
And now - since you are just a hop away....we might end up visiting some time. We can compare maple trees!
And we had in-laws in Florida too. I am not too fond of the southern states, I am more of a cooler weather type of lass, lol.
So thank you for the speedy response.....we are well met!
have a great weekend....MaryBeth
