I think the internet just gives a lot more access to inspiration. Of course, that equals a lot of generic work and lack of real originality, but in the end I think it opens up a lot of doors for people and gives art a wider audience. I know that a lot of phases and trends arise online and in online art communities etc, but, that has always happened in the art world on a whole.
