Around 9:20 this evening I got back to my house after having coffee with a friend. The front door was locked, only it was both the deadbolt (which I have a key for) and the handlock (which I don't). My roommate and her friends have this bad habit of locking the handlock (which locks me out of the house), and I've told them multiple times not to do ( Read more... )

It may cost a bit, but go buy a new hand lock and have it keyed to the deadbolt. No need for ugly signs or duck tape....if your feeling evil, then buy a matching hand lock and deadbolt and don't re-key them to the old key and have her locked out and worried about how she is going to get in for a bit...

Just a thought. It would have been so awesome to be on the other side of that door though. Watching you kick it open.. ;)

I'm a wee bit short on the funds at the moment. Though when I get my next paycheck I may consider it.

And if I wanted to be evil I'd just call a locksmith and leave her with the bill, lol.

I did this at my house once, IT WAS NUTS. I busted out one of my smaller windows and made a mess. My door still doesn't sit right, but it was definantly worth that liberating feeling.
