Ok, this sucks.

My grandpa died yesterday.  My mom told me the day before that he was getting hospice care, so all day long I expected to come home and get an e-mail saying he'd passed...which is what happened.

But now I just don't know what to do with myself.  I got up and went to mass this morning (at the Asamkirche) and on the way back got off two

Oh, Babydoll, I'm so sorry. You know if I had the time or resources, I'd get out there to Munich. I'd make you a nice pie, and you could keep the pie tin forever. I love you very much, Julie, and I hope coping with this turns out to be a little easier. Man, virtual hugs really suck around now.

I hope I am not being unhelpful, but here goes.. This summer I was living in DC and my grandma died. I knew that if I didn't go home I would never get a sense of closure and I would regret it for the rest of my life. So finally I decided to just fly home. Because it was last minute it cost me several hundred dollars each way (which, in my situation, was almost unthinkable), plus MAJOR inconvenience with my job. But it was worth it. It was just what I needed to do, and I am SO GLAD I went. My other grandparents and my parents helped me out financially, even though I didn't ask them too, because of the situation, so it didn't end up costing me so much.

I would go home. I think, in the end, you'll be glad you did.

Aw, Julie. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm right with Zahkia on that, the making of pie and giving you hugs and lots of strong tea. Feel better, hun. We're all thinking of you.
