OKAY. So I got my letter from NYU tonight. And guys, let's be honest, I never really expected to get in. Only one out of every ten make it. But of course it still hurts. Going to NYU is all I've ever wanted and I just wish my audition had gone like I had planned (AND LIKE IT FREAKIN SAID IT WOULD GO ON THE WEBSITE) but whatever. It's just, the ( Read more... )

Ash Mon the greatest actors in the world went to assorted colleges around the world, only about 2% of them went to school like NYU, Juliard, College of the Arts North Carolina. Renee Zelweeger went to UT! Will Ferrell went to USC, Dustin Hoffman who won 2 ACADEMY AWARDS went to Santa Monica Community College with hopes of being a doctor! You are a great actress Ash Mon and you have such potential behind you with a great drive, those other colleges mena nothing. And one day when those guys are sitting around watching TV and they announce the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role ASHLEY MONROE! Those schools that didn't take you will smack themselves at how stupid they were to not get you when they could! And that my friend is the REALITY OF IT!

Blackburn OUT!

If it's any consolation- we we're casting my play FreezeFrame right now and only about two or so girls out of the slew of them that graduated from NYU Tisch were actually worth a call back. Tisch is a name but it doesn't mean talent. It means somebody got in for whatever arbitrary reason and of those talents the ones who stick out are the same percent as the ones who stick out elsewhere. A lot of extraordinary talent came into the casting room from an enormous array of different acting programs. This includes Virginia Kull (a graduate from Bowie High School) who attended SMU, I believe. The girl we're considerng casting as my lead didn't even focus on acting in college- she studied ballet. She's a DAMN good actress though.

I think your play being produced off-broadway is just about the most exciting thing of all time. I wish I could have auditioned for you, mostly just for fun since i couldnt ever get it, but still.
