Moving on and moving out

Jun 22, 2012 20:32

So, lots going on in Veronicaland, and when last we left real life, I'd been laid off. Made redundant. Shown the door.

Ha! They were just kidding. )

state of veronica, they call it work, daily life

Sounds like an amazing opportunity. Any way you can rent the house out?

You know, I've thought about it, but I don't want to be a landlord for one thing. More importantly - emotionally, I want a clean break, you know? This is a new adventure and I don't want to be tied to obligations in another state (even though the two cities are only a couple of hours apart).

We'll see - the market is terrible, which is bad on the sell side, but good for me if I can buy in time.

This grownup stuff hurts my head ;).

With all our house issues I completely understand the attachment to the house thing. This is our first one, and we fell in love with it the moment we walked in.

But if we were able to sell, and the job market opened up, we'd have to go where the job was.

On the bright side, I LOVE PORTLAND! I haven't been in probably 15 years, though. Total bummer. But I love it there.

Wow, sounds like you are really throwing those life marbles up in the air! You sound energised, which is great, and it must hurt to sell your house as part of the process, but more good things will come, you'll see:-))

It's weird - I thought getting laid off would be the kick in the butt I needed to move on with my life and it turns out that getting re-hired is doing exactly that! Losing my house is hard, but I always knew that as long as it was in this town, it would never be the best house for me.

But man, this adult stuff is hard! LOL, but what can you do;)

Aw, thank you *hugs you back*

I'm really looking forward to getting on with my life - this layoff business is rough! I'll miss this place, but I have to believe that the next perfect place is waiting for me :).

I hope you can return - it seems like a place of great possibilities and fresh starts. At least I hope so ;).

Congratulations, and how strange your company is! They make you redundant then offer you a promotion! Sounds fab, and especially if you've wanted to move there for a while, I've heard people say it's a lovely city to live in.

It *is* a strange company - also, a ginormous, international one, so many moving parts. At least it will give me some breathing room to get established and maybe next time I go, I go on my terms ;). Portland will be good for me, I've been stuck in the boonies too long!
