Sigh.

I wouldn't even want them at my wedding after all that, and DEFINITELY don't consider dropping everything and moving in with them. It's hard enough to live with even agreeable parents! I guess the best scenario is that they cool off in a couple of days and admit to being out of line due to surprise. :/

You've put so much time and energy into planning your wedding. What exactly needs to be paid that they were going to cover?

*hugs*

I'd be considering elopement right about now, haha.

we still owe 25% of the cost of the reception (food, center pieces, cake, beer and soda), as well as things like the DJ, the musicians, the church fee, and they had agreed to cover the rehearsal dinner.
A lot, it turns out.
I would love to just elope, except that while there is still 25% to pay, that means we have already paid 75%, and I couldn't just leave my parents with spending that kind of money and having nothing to show for it.

You could always pay your parents back over a long period of time. Do whatever is going to truly make you happy, forever, and not worry about pissing anyone off or the social effects of canceling a "big" wedding.
