Technically it's "to all the glories of France," but eh. (And the fact that I haven't used my French in six years battles against my automatic proofreading instinct. Round 1, the winner is proofreading instinct!)

*is jealous of your zoom lens* Want. Zoom lens. Aaaaaaa. *would be into photography much more if my camera would take nice closeups, since that is the sort of thing I tend to compose* I adore that dragonfly pic...

Also, srsly, is that statue touching his fig leaf?

Yes, I know. My French may not be perfect but I can spot a plural when I see one. I'm allowed to paraphrase. =P

I'm in love with the zoom lens, seriously. I love how the two insect photos came out. (It took me about fifteen tries to get that damn dragonfly to sit STILL, though...)

Yeah, I figured you'd notice it if I pointed it out. It's just, my job consists largely of pointing out the discrepancy between what students wrote in their papers and what they think they wrote, so it's hard to turn it off sometimes. (Also, I'm way too literal. =P)

No, I mean I did know exactly what it said. ^^; I, uh, have a habit of rather loosely translating stuff from French so that it sounds more natural rather than doing it word-for-word; for some reason "To the glory of" seemed to flow more naturally in English for me so I went with that. Perhaps I am not literal enough? I hadn't particularly intended to provide a translation though, just a... caption.

(Sorry. I'm a bit prickly about my lack of French skillz at the moment, having just spent some days out there being reminded how much I suck, so I just wanted you to know that I can recognise a plural, I do know the word for "all", and it wasn't just me being dumb or taking a blind guess or whatever.)

The Petit-Trianon was full of big blue dragonflies. You almost never see them in this country, so it was... yeah, rather lovely.

SPARROW CLOSEUP EEEE.

If we tried to take pictures of dragonflies and sparrows, we'd end up with big blurs with captions like: "This was a dragonfly. ...It moved."

... see, that's what I got the first five or so times I tried. There was much "Stay STILL damn you!" and wasted photographs of a small brown blur or empty stalk of grass. ;)

You have a zoom lens.
Great pictures, too. :) And for some reason, text comes up really vivid with that camera.
